There are a lot of good ways to lose weight. Doing tons of cardio on the treadmill, bike, or elliptical while not changing your diet very much and not doing any weight training is not among the best of them.
Sure it "burns" a lot of calories during the training session, but our bodies will respond to this energy depleting exercise by conserving energy during the remainder of the day. It also doesn't increase the amount of calories our bodies burn at rest, which is important for long term weight loss.
I definitely recommend incorporating SOME of this type of exercise in the plan, but don't rely on it.
