There is a hypothesis that insulin drives fat loss. Insulin is a hormone that is released when we eat carbohydrates and to a lesser degree when we eat protein. Insulin tells the cells to store fat and take in sugar.
Therefore, according to the theory, when we cut carbohydrates our body will use more fat regardless of total calories.
Today, I want to examine this hypothesis with some science and see if it hold up.
