  • 131 - What Would We Do Differently If…?

In this episode we look to challenge some of our basic assumptions about the things we do in our leadership. For coaches and leaders out there, this episode is packed with ideas to help you reflect on the season or project you just finished or the new opportunity right in front of you.  As I have been working with coaches to wind down from the fall season and ramp up into the winter season I have seen some patterns in the types of questions I have been asking and answering. Here is a glimpse into some of my big takeaways from those conversations.

Whether you are a coach, an athlete, or someone with a desire to improve daily, you will be better for listening today. We appreciate you joining us and choosing to live differently. We'd love for you to share this with someone you care about and if you find value please do not forget to hit the little subscribe/follow/rate/review button and as always, LIVE EYES UP!

  • 130. Tom Dierenfeld - Being in Rhythm Creates a Heart That Overflows

Episode Notes: Tom Dierenfeld, youth pastor at Life Spring Covenant Church in Loveland, Colorado, is a dude. Tommy D and I go way back to high school where our hearts forged a deep, lasting relationship with one another. Tom genuinely changed the shape of my life and in this conversation you will see why. His joy, passion and compassion are obvious, it pours out of him. He challenges us to find a way to get in rhythm with life. From taking a 10-minute timeout daily to carving out time for your spouse with a regular date night or creating a weekly Sabbath for your family, Tom thinks about the different ways that space allows him to fill his heart and then give that fullness away. I love his challenge to ask ourselves to wonder about how someone else's heart is doing, it can't help but make you feel love and compassion for that person. Tom grew us today and helped us get one step closer to what an integrated life might look like.

    • 125. John David Latta - "Learning To Trust"

Episode Notes: Terrified and stalked by an oppressive fear of death, John David Latta was a single dad with two children facing rock bottom, loneliness and bankruptcy. Today he would describe himself as a mystic, author, teacher, and former founder and CEO of a multimillion-dollar consumer products company. The bottom was only the beginning. John David joins us to talk about that transformation and what learning to trust in a deeper way has brought to his life. We cover a wide range of topics from spirituality and searching to getting comfortable with your intuition and paying attention to your dreams. He shares his wisdom around how traditional masculinity might not have the answers we hope it does and challenges us to think about how we might become someone more open to the truth around us.

    • 124. John Peter - Having an In-Season Support Network

Episode Notes: JP returns to discuss what it is like on the ground during the season, when maybe things aren't going the way you had planned. We talk about a lot of things from the heartbreak of injury and the chaos of a seemingly continuous competition schedule to the need for practice to be more than something you do after school. Ultimately we get better because we are surrounded by people that grow us. In-season that network can get small and sheltered, John challenges us to think about how we are leading in and beyond that network by connecting with others and pulling in their voices as well.
