Expedition leader Inge Solheim joins me this week, to talk about his fear of failing people. Inge is best known for leading the Walking with The Wounded expeditions to the North and South Poles, and he also helped Mark Pollock become the first blind man to race to the South pole. As part of his job, Inge is often responsible for the safety and well-being of others so I found this fear particularly interesting and was curious to find out more.
I was interested to find out how Inge prepares himself and others for physical and mental hardship and how he deals with other people’s fears when guiding them. We talk about responding vs reacting, conquering childhood fears, the importance of curiosity and of tuning into a more positive channel in our heads in times of difficulty.
Although this episode was recorded before the coronavirus outbreak, the topics we cover and the advice Inge gives still seems to ring true.
