I love her. We met and vibed a year ago in Santa Monica when we attended a Life Coaching meet-up.
We hit it off because she talks about money, the same way that I talk about fertility. It's all energy and learning how to partner with these energies to live our dream lives.
Fertility and money can become intertwined because the fertility journey can be, well…expensive.
So I asked if Serena would be a guest to help you manage your mind and energy around this topic.
It's so new for women to gather and openly discuss the topic of money. Women are just beginning to be in intimate relationships with money. Women weren't even allowed credit cards until 1974. 90% of the world's millionaires are men. It's NUTS!
Let's put it this way: You can work with the energy of money and fertility at the same time. They are not as different as you think. They actually have so much in common. And it's not more work to do this. It's just a shift in what you believe. Listen now!
His little brain was thinking, "Nooooo…. I don't want this to be happening! I want my ball back! Why don't I have more controlll!"
It's normal for us to want control. We were born wanting control.
It's an important part of thenhuman design. It keeps us well and alive.
But it becomes a bit more nuanced as you enter adulthood and find yourself in life's challenges.
The fertility journey has a knack for making you feel more out of control than you've ever felt in your life. "Why can't I control what I'm supposed to do?"
The ego hates this. And it tends to double down when this happens. "Work HARDER. Push HARDER. Research HARDER. Don't leave any stone unturned!!!" Which if we're being honest, makes us feel even farther away from the goal.
In today's podcast, I'm going to discuss the topic of control to:
Alleviate all the self-judgment you have around being "too controlling"
Introduce a reframe around this topic of women being "too much." Maybe this label of "too controlling" is more shit the patriarchy pours on us to keep us people pleasing as opposed to asking for what we really want?
"Wholeness" is so arbitrary.
What does it even mean… to achieve this state? To feel "whole" and complete and worthy of your baby?
A great example is this…
So many women try to be the "good girl" to get pregnant. To do/be/act perfect and then you'll get pregnant.
…Talk about arbitrary…perfection is impossible.
But even so — even tho we know it's impossible — we still aim for it. Which is kinda fucked up.
But (and listen to this one please) the fucked up parts of us, they're still lovable. And this is wholeness.
Horribly uncomfortable. So much uncertainty.
So much vulnerability it required. I could have said no to avoid the feelings it evoked. But I've learned to listen to the whispers of my body and spirit.
The words poured out of me.
Completely restored my nervous system.
Slow things wayyyy down.
Do things differently: Social media/Simplifying/Space to create the things I love.
FMBM is my 6-month group coaching program to take the mind-body approach to conception – without it taking over your life. You can apply now! August enrollment is now open!
The group component is what most women fear when joining – and what they end up loving most about the program.
Because:
To finally be seen and accepted as you are, is ironically, what creates change within the mind and body.
That's why the program is so so effective.
You can keep feeling like an alien and keep believing that you're the only one that has these strange, annoying and painful thoughts.
But you're not… and you don't have to do this alone. Start to relieve yourself from that perfectionism and pressure that women have, by listening to this podcast today.
Of course, if you could choose, you would prefer to let go of the tightness, the *need* and the rush to have a baby. But there may be a subconscious part of you that believes that you need the stress, to make changes. That you need the stress to create change. And without it, you'd sit in bed with a bag of doritos and do nothing. Maybe you don't yet believe that change can be created through things like joy, rest, slowness, pleasure and ease. Which like, if you haven't created something from this place before and have only created from hustle, that makes fucking sense. But if hustle isn't working, maybe the answer isn't to hustle HARDER, but to try a fresh, new approach. And because you haven't taken a gentler approach before, this requires a leap of faith. A willingness to try something new….I know you've tried A LOT on the fertility journey, but this particular kind of approach actually feels counter-intuitive at first. This is normal if it feels… odd. Gentleness, softness and slowness is not what we're taught. To help this new vibration land inside of your body, I recorded a podcast about a conversation I had with a client. She's shifted the need to have a baby, to a want. And it's freaking her out. So you're gonna hear what I did to coach her through it.
Today I'm interviewing a Fertility Mind-Body Mastery alumni and I can't wait to get her story out in the world! Tammy's journey is fascinating. While being in my program Fertility Mind-Body Mastery, she experienced both tragedy and miracles. And we were with her through all the ups and downs and twists and turns that she went on. She's been kind enough to share her vulnerable story with us in today's Fertile Ground podcast. In her time in the program, she went through 2 failed IVF cycles that yielded many eggs but no embryos. She experienced tremendous loss in her fertility journey, and also lost her step-son to a hit and run drunk driver. So incredibly sad. Although she is still grieving today, she is doing it in a way that allows for herself to feel how she feels, without judgment and without shame. She eventually…after everything she had been through and after being told her next step would be donor eggs… she went on to get pregnant naturally. At almost 40 years old. Her journey makes no logical sense. Which is beautiful and confusing to our analytical mind. But it is packed with the fullness of life and compassion for her humanity, as she shed the layers of perfectionism and started to embrace her real, authentic, sometimes anxious, imperfect self. You're gonna learn: What happens when you stop trying to do it all. The difference between intrinsic worth versus. achievement-based worth. What it means to expand your capacity for uncertainty. How she makes sense of her journey. Listen now!
