In 1986, the Devils were still a few years away from any sort of franchise success but in a rare display of offense, they took down Pittsburgh by a score of 8-6. This game had so much going on and it was a reminder of hockey from an era long ago. Buckle up for 14 goals, 88 penalty minutes and relatively little of Mario Lemieux, a rarity in the era.

Today, we broke down Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal between the Devils and the Florida Panthers and the extremely close shave that allowed the Devils to create the magical moments that they did the rest of that playoff season. It was about as even as it gets and it was a matter of inches between a win and a loss here so we appreciate the greatness of Brodeur and reminisce about a team that was greater than the sum of its parts.
