  • 91. [INTERVIEW] The anxiety and depression spiral and finding healthy coping skills with Lindsey Konchar

    Send us Fan Mail

Lindsey Konchar is a licensed graduate social worker, which basically means she brings some credentialed experience to the mental health world. Now, she is a mom by day and social worker by heart! While she has been thrilled to be a stay-at-home mama, she knew she couldn’t lose who she was along the way. That was vital. She found a way to use the clinical skills she had developed in her practice and hold on to the work she loves so much - she wrote a friggin’ book. I Got 99 Coping Skills and Being a B*tch Ain’t One is a quippy, evidence-based guide to help individuals find better, healthy coping skills. We all know life can be unimaginably challenging. It brings stress and grief, anxiety and angst, but that doesn't mean we should lose hope. By using the small, simple, actionable steps in I Got 99 Coping Skills and Being a B*tch Ain’t One, you can find what uniquely works for you to optimize your life!

    Today we chat about:

    • Lindsey's experience as a new mom in the pandemic
    • Lindsey's experience with postpartum
    • Lindsey's mental health journey including a contemplated suicide
    • The depression and anxiety spiral and how they each play off of each other
    • Lindsey's book: I Got 99 Coping Skills and Being a B*tch Ain't One.

  • 88. There is no handbook for motherhood - we're all just out here doing our best

    Send us Fan Mail

No matter if you kid is  2 WEEKS old or 20 YEARS old, you're probably still learning and growing every day as a mom. There is no guidebook or handbook to guide us along the perfect path. We're all out here doing our best and we're all going to make mistakes along the way.  You might be thinking things like:

    • I should know that by now
    • Why didn't I know that?
    • How the hell was I supposed to know ______?

Just because you're a seasoned mom, doesn't mean you should feel like you should have all the answers all the time. The reality is you're still new, you're still learning, you're still growing. You're out here doing the best that you can and that's all that matters!

  • 85. [INTERVIEW] Learning to stay calm and patient when your kid's behavior is the most triggering with Claire Cetti

    Send us Fan Mail

Today I'm thrilled to bring Claire Cetti to share her experience and advice about becoming a more calm mom when faced with power struggles and triggering behavior.

Claire helps overwhelmed mamas tap into their calm, cool, and collected energy so they can show up as the parent they really are and that  their children really need even during the hard moments.

Claire's own personal parenting journey of experiencing frequent conflict, overwhelm, and anger as a mama of 4 to becoming a more calm, confident mama who created the strong, close-knit, deeply connected family she has today, is what brought her to parent coaching. Using her C.A.R.E.S. Approach™ to parenting, Claire helps mamas who desire to change the parenting patterns that are not serving them, or their kids well, begin to feel calmer, more in control, and connected with their kids, thus creating the peaceful family culture they truly desire.

  • 83. [INTERVIEW] Creating the support system you need as a mom with Dr. Melissa Reilly, Psy.D

    Send us Fan Mail

Today's guest speaks from both personal and professional experience making her the best person to speak about this topic. Melissa shares her best tips to create the support system you need as a mom, especially if you don't have a mom yourself.

    About Melissa Reilly, Psy.D:

Melissa Reilly, Psy.D. is a mom of two boys, clinical psychologist, and parent coach passionate about helping moms separated from their mother by physical distance, estrangement, or death, move from feelings of insecurity, isolation, and overwhelm to a place of resilience. Through her personal and professional experience, she has come to recognize that Moms without a mom experience grief as part of their motherhood experience, even if they don’t realize it. The relationship moms have had (or didn’t have) with their mothers impacts how they see themselves but doesn’t define them. She believes it isn’t knowledge and skills that create resilience, but rather it is born through overcoming hardship, having a community, and living by one’s values. She is honored to walk with moms on their journey to becoming the mom they always wanted to be. Melissa’s psychological practice, Shoudt & Reilly Psychological Services has been serving residents of Berks County, Pennsylvania for over 22 years. She is now expanding her services to include parent coaching focusing on Moms Without a Mom which can be accessed by women all over the world through her website momswithoutamom.com.
