Welcome to The Apple and the Tree with host, Richard Coles. In Episode Three of this new series, we're in Manchester to meet Fiona and her dad, Steven
In 2017 Fiona - then aged 34 - began experiencing symptoms of breathlessness and a dry cough which were later identified as early signs of Pulmonary Fibrosis, a terminal disease. She is married with a young son, Harry. Fiona and her dad Steven, 71, share their deeply personal conversation about Fiona's life-threatening illness and its impact on their family.
Steven opens up about his own adventurous past, travelling through India, Australia and New Zealand before meeting and marrying Fiona’s mother in Colombia. Despite the huge challenges they face, both find room for hope and laughter and a desire to face the future supporting each other. This is an intimate exploration of mortality, love and the power of familial bonds. As ever with The Apple and the Tree, there is nothing off limits.
