It's hard to believe that we have completed two full seasons on Firepit Conversations. We have laughed, cried, and even had some jaw dropping moments. Our guest have come to The Firepit and shared their experiences for all to hear. Many of our listeners loved the "What burned you up" segment of our show. Mother's Day is a day when we get to celebrate all of the mothers and mother figures. For some, this day is challenging and brings feelings of sorrow and loss. For some adoptees, Mother's Day can feel conflicting and overwhelming. For us, today is about celebrating the beautiful women in our lives who have contributed to the men that we are today. Adoptions have been happening since the beginning of time. Hell, even Moses himself was an adoptee. However, with the invention of the TV and internet, these stories of adoption have been written, produced, and directed for the world to see. Conflict is defined as a serious disagreement or argument. There are no relationships, whether family or friend, that are 100% free of conflict. It's how you handle the conflict that can make or break the relationship. Join us at the Firepit as we discuss our conflicts with our birth family, and no one is off limits. We will discuss our conflicts with Ann, Sonny, and our siblings. Don't worry, we don't just harp on the negative! We actually give some actionable strategies to help build a more positive relationship and avoid additional conflict. We know that so many members of the adoptee community have experienced conflict with their first/birth families. And, we understand that those first/birth families may not know how to handle these newly formed relationships. We hope this helps!! Remember, while conflict is inevitable, combat is an option.
