Back after our first holiday break and we had so much to catch up on we invented a new format: "Spin That Wheel!"
We hit Heckuva Hotdish, Holiday Hits & Misses, Build Back Better, Warm Fuzzies and more!
After the last crazy week we had trouble narrowing our What the Heck's so we give a bonus episode!
What the heck: quitting jobs to avoid vaccines, paternity leave shaming, Denis Prager, Wizard of New Zealand sacked, Squid Games, Candy Corn Chips, a Wibbily Wobbly Mess & more!
Enjoy.
This week we sat down with Joanna Tysdal, a trained RN and parent of 4 students in the district, who graciously agreed to come on the show to help give some counterweight to our ongoing discussions on masking in schools in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A couple episodes ago we did a "Hot Take" on our local school boards decision to reinstated a masking mandate in our K-12 schools. During that recording it was clear that our positions on the matter had no daylight between them. As such we agreed that it would appropriate to round out our discussion to have someone on the show who does not come to the same conclusion on this topic. After hearing here eloquently speak out against the mandate at a School Board Listening Session on the matter we reached out to her and she accepted our invite.
As you will hear we had a wonderful conversation, learned more about each other and our selves and hopefully modeling that this type of conversation can and should be done.
We still are absolutely not aligned on this issue however we all walked away friends.
As Joanna said "I never want to be afraid to have a conversation".
Thank you Jonna for joining our conversation.
It's officially Fall so that means Pumpkin Spice everything, debt crisis, government shutdowns and fiscal cliffs.
As the Federal Government continues to lurch and careen towards an artificial and human made fiscal catastrophe we stopped today to dig a little deeper into this recurring nightmare of our own making. We discuss some vocabulary, history and the current political situation. Whatever your political or fiscal philosophy the short version is it doesn't have to be this way.
Also, South Dakota is in the spotlight a lot lately (and not in a good way) and #VanLifeNYC gets shut down in our 'What the Heck?!' segment.
And we cover Dutch 'chat register' and Captain Kirk finally is going to the final frontier!

This past week we had the great pleasure to sit down with Emily McCune to learn more about her story. We dig deeper into Medical Marijuana, the arcane rules regulating marijuana derived products in Minnesota, drug policies and so, so much more.
A California native Emily landed in Fergus Falls MN by way of many places and quickly has become a fixture in the community. After battling addictions and working to recover from various traumatic life events Emily stepped out and started "Sugar High Bakery and Confections" in 2020 combining Her passions for baking, helping others and the power of medical cannabis in Her life.
We learned so much and had such fun speaking with Emily and we know you will too.

Today we discuss the ongoing 'worker shortage' in the United States and why 'nobody wants to work anymore' doesn't even scratch the surface.
Also, troll farms rule 'Christian Facebook' & murders are skyrocketing in our "What the Heck?!" segment. And Park Ranger Betty Reid Soskin is a beacon of light we all should try to emulate.
