TRIGGER WARNING: Suicidal Ideation/Suicide/Poop
If you're having thoughts/feelings about suicide, please get help. You belong here, have a purpose, and deserve to stay. Please call 988 if you need help!
In this episode, we discuss the similarities and differences between "animal nurses," aka veterinary technicians, and "human nurses," aka nurses: such as toxic work environments, shitty situations, the reality of pay and licensure, and even mental health. Beware, we talk about poop in this episode, so if that weirds you out, skip through it. Mental health is a HUGE part of the veterinary world along with the human healthcare world, and we touch on the issues and where they come from while also bringing you solutions. You're in for a near overload of information, chock-full, so strap in!

Let's give Jason Patton a warm welcome! He is well known for his skits on social media that depict what he goes through with patients as a first responder; he brings comedy and education together flawlessly. So naturally, we had to bring him on to talk about mental health within the FD, wild stories from his field, and what it takes to do what he does! We're different branches of the same tree, and there's so much to talk about, but I don't want to give away, so you'll just have to listen, won't ya!?
NOTE: This episode contains talk about suicide.

WELCOME BACK FRENEMAS! I hope we didn't make you wait too long, but it'll be so worth it, contrary to what this episode title suggests! However, we're kicking off season 2 with last season's 1-start reviews and talk about how we plan to improve! To stay on theme, we will also be looking at 1-star reviews left for hospitals and explain why we think healthcare is getting worse! The general public doesn't see our side, so in this we really want to flesh out the issues and get our point of view into the limelight.
We're so excited for season two, thanks for joining us!
SEASON FINALE: Well Frenemas, we did it and we're doing it in style. Have you ever walked towards the hospital doors and had that gnawing anxiety creep up with every step that brings you closer to the entrance? BECAUSE SAME! In this episode, we're talking about pre-shift dread and post-shift anxiety; let's unravel it knot by knot as we share our personal encounters and experiences while sharing stories from listeners like you!

Relationships look different to everyone but some things are universal and sitting down to talk with friends about it all is a MUST.
We’re in this together, so let’s wade through it all together.

We've received so many stories emailed to us about haunted happenings and so this episode is Jared and I share them with you all!! This is Frenema Folktales! Or maybe "Frenema Fables"... what do you guys think?
We've got the spooky, the ooky, and because we're nurses, the dookey. I won't give anything else away - press play and hear the stories from our community!
Not only is Amanda one of my best friends, but our husband’s are also besties. Travel nursing brought us together, but our trauma bond was stronger than ever and we really never left each other’s sides since. In this episode, we talk about how we went from heroes to peasants in the span of two years! From Rat Girl Summer to Feral Girl Fall, we sit here fresh after a shower and discuss briefly how we met, dog mom problems with real-life zoomies in the background, and finally we dive into SPOOKY TALES. These stories are straight from our listeners (thanks frenemas!) and a couple of personal ones as well. I even add a scary DM I’ve received... But it's not scary in the way you think. We are both spooky girlies and love a good haunted tale. Don’t forget to send YOUR SPOOKY TALES to [email protected] (hospital, clinic, or at-home stories welcome)!

Racquel, AKA the Kim K of nurse aesthetics, has graced me with her presence for episode 9! Even though it’s audio-only, we still feel the power! In this episode we’re talking versatility, since Racquel is a nurse aesthetics injector and has her own skincare line and practice! I have been using her skincare since 2019 and it has changed my face, confidence levels, and overall vibes tremendously. On top of being a business woman, she is a mom, so she’s balancing a lot and we talk about it all from her first interest in aesthetics, her training program, and how to reach your life goals! All in all, Racquel is here to lead by example proving that us women are amazing and capable of it all (even when “all” is relative).
