In the latest episode of the 2018 Frontstretch Podcast, we review one of the marquee weekends of the year at Darlington Raceway with Dustin Albino, Mike Neff, Zach Catanzareti and Ross Chastain, who had a “career weekend” in his first start in elite equipment.

Prior to Saturday, Chastain had never started inside the top 10. He put that record to rest, scoring the pole in the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing ride. He would go on to lead a race-high 90 laps and win the first two stages before an incident with Kevin Harvick midway through the final stage. Ultimately, Chastain would finish 25th.

But in this podcast, Chastain takes us through his mindset of getting the opportunity to compete in top-notch equipment, as well as what his expectations were before bringing up the incident with Harvick and why he was so frustrated. He also believes Josh Wise is Chip Ganassi Racing’s “hidden hero.”

Not only did Brad Keselowski capitalize on the misfortunes of the No. 42 team in Saturday’s race, but also in Sunday’s Southern 500, as the Michigan native swept the weekend — his first two career wins at the famed racetrack. Each day, the No. 42 car dominated the race, as Kyle Larson led 284 laps in the Southern 500, only to finish third.

Finally, the gang discusses the news of Furniture Row Racing ceasing its operation at the end of 2018 and what it means for the sport moving forward.
