Ryan Messner farms corn, soybeans, sorghum and cattle near Stanberry, Missouri.  He is also director of the Farm Service Agency for Holt County.  Extreme drought has had an impact on his farm and he discusses chopping corn silage as an alternative to the poor harvest potential this fall.  Should farmers grow “silage varieties” each Spring as a hedge against drought?  Ryan also discusses how the drought is affecting cropping decisions as he looks to 2019.
