Gae Webster is a multi-disciplinary artist from Auckland in Aotearoa NZ. She works in paint, print, paper, fibre, glass, sculpture and contemporary jewellery from her studio in Pukekohe.
Gae's works are all a narration of her views and responses to life – the telling of the story is the focus across all the mediums that she likes to create in and all of her disciplines connect and relate to each other.
I talk to Gae in her studio about her incredibly varied practice and all the different media and processes she uses. She speaks of her joy of teaching 4 days a week from her studio, her desire to keep her work accessible, her views on the languages of her different disciplines and how they 'speak' to each other, her strong connection to the Hauraki Gulf, curating her own exhibitions and her love of learning and developing her creative skills.
