Gary walks with a limp and smells like smoke because he has been to hell and back. He has traveled the world, and lived in the "palace" as well as the "pit" and has now settled somewhere in the middle.  He has felt the loss of a child and yet, he has learned how to still show up for those around him and face life head on.
