Our country is currently on an unsustainable track when it comes to our national debt. We started 2024 at $34 trillion dollars, and have added $720 billion dollars in just 6 months. Gene Steuerle from Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center shares that by the end of the year we will cross the $35 trillion dollar mark, with no end in sight to get on a sustainable path. It will take more than just spending cuts and nominal tax increases to fix this. So what needs to happen before our country feels the full effects of a national debt crisis?
