Collectibles, such as sports cars, sports cards, art, and jewelry are an attractive asset class because they can offer outsized uncorrelated returns and act as an inflation hedge through their inherent scarcity. They are also quite enjoyable to collect! However, investing in many collectibles has traditionally had high barriers to entry, including significant capital investment, limited access, need for expertise, concentration risk, and logistical complexity. Join CAIA Atlanta & the CFA Society of Atlanta as we discuss the investment merits and risks of this large and growing alternative investment asset class.
The format will be a panel discussion featuring professional collectibles investors. There will be a collectibles showcase. Attendees are welcome to bring their favorite collectible to show off. The most interesting collectible will receive a prize. Sports Card Investor will lead a participatory “Box Breaking,” a phenomenon in sports cards.
