  • The 5 best savings account in Australia as of June 2023

Last week the RBA announced another increase in the cash rate, bringing it to 4.1%.

This is the highest cash rate Australians have seen since 2012, and also signals the 12th rate rise in the past year! So, while this cash rate is bad news for many Aussies with mortgages, it does mean if you’ve got cash in a savings account - make sure those interest rates are working for you. This week Bryce and Alec go through the 5 Best Savings Accounts they could find (as of time of recording - June 2023) to help you supercharge your savings. The Google Doc Alec was talking about is here.

  • Under the Hood | Investing in emerging asset classes

This is the tenth episode of our Under the Hood series - but we hope isn't the last. It's been an epic series, and today we're closing out with two of the most popular ETFs in our community - both to do with the ESG and Climate theme. Blair is also back to join us as well as we venture 'Under the Hood' and ask 'how do we invest in emerging trends and asset classes' with these ETFs?

The two ETFs we’re looking at are Global X Global Carbon ETF (GCO2) and the Global X Hydrogen ETF (HGEN)

Global X is a leading player in the ETF industry, with a robust platform and over 30 targeted products globally. They have a trusted reputation with over a million clients in 95 countries, and are uniquely positioned to identify and analyze disruptive companies with their industry-leading research team and global access.

  • Under the Hood | What about alternate assets?

In this episode we look at bonds! After all, they're all over the news at the moment - so Bryce and Alec lean how ETFs can help us get access to alternate assets that aren't just equities. There's so many options for investors these days, how do we navigate all these options when building a portfolio of ETFs?

The ETF we’re looking at Global X USD High Yield Bond ETF (USHY)

  • Do credit scores matter when you're investing?

So, we all hear about credit reports - but what exactly are they, and do they make a difference in your investing journey? The guys sit down and discuss what a credit report is, and how it plays a crucial role in helping lenders decide whether to grant credit or loans. There is no single credit score used by lenders or consumers; rather, Australia's three main credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and Illion, each generate their own scores based on the data in an individual's credit report. Both Bryce and Alec check out what their scores are and compare notes about what they discover!

  • Under the Hood | Equal Weight v Market Cap Weight: What's better?

We're chatting about the difference between Equal Weight and Market Cap, and using Global X FANG+ ETF (FANG) to understand it. We are joined by Global X's Jessica Leung, who helps us understand the difference. Equal weight ETFs allocate the same percentage to all holdings, whereas market cap weight ETFs hold assets in proportion to their market value. So then we dig into the historical data on the performance of these structures and the reasons you might choose one over the other.

The ETF we’re looking at is Global X FANG+ ETF (FANG)
