    LOVED THIS!
I can't say enough great things about this book and the narrator! I need to bond with characters in books and movies, and boy did I. the story is precious and Jean and Rosie are adorable. I can't wait to listen to them all!
    Sweet
At first I was a little put off by the characters abrasiveness. But as the story unfolds you come to understand and then you settle in to listen to things develop. I received this book at no charge in exchange for my honest review. I think if your a fifty something this could be a good fit. But I don't think younger people would understand the journey that these characters have been on. With age comes life's experiences and you just can't get that without having made the journey. So much of what they go though from death, divorce, children leaving home, starting over you can't appreciate until your either there or already on that path. So in my humble opinion not a twenty something book.
    Relatable
I found this book extremely enjoyable. The characters were easily distinguishable from each other as Carolyn did a great job with her voices. I found that Jeans' character hit a nerve with relationships that I have known. I look forward to hearing more about Jean and Rosie's adventures and friendship.

    Good story!
Carolyn Power did an amazing job narrating. I really enjoyed listening to the differences in her voice for Jean and Rosie. it made listening to this story very easy to keep up with. the story was a little slow but I liked seeing the relationship between Rosie and Jean grow.
    Good Book
I really enjoyed In Polyester Pajamas it was a good clean book and the narration was well done. This one is well worth reading going to read the others. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator,or publisher

    Publisher's Summary:
Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks is a novel about a 35-year-old husband and father, Russ Green, whose life is upended by circumstances that are alternately within and beyond his control. Over the course of just one year, he'll lose his office job, his wife, his sister, and his home, among other things. Although Russ struggles to adjust to his changed circumstances, he also gains much along the way.
The narrative begins in 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Russ and Vivian have been married for seven years. After their daughter London was born in 2009, Vivian left her job to become a stay-at-home mom. Meanwhile, Russ embarked upon a successful but stressful career at an ad agency. He feels he's missed out on important milestones with his wife and daughter, which bothers him, but he chalks it up to the price of being his family's breadwinner.

    Life's ups and downs
In Two by Two by Nicholas Spark, a husband and father has his life upended by circumstances both within and outside his control. Over the course of a year, he suffers loss but also finds redemption. Summary, Analysis & Review of Nicholas Sparkâs Two by Two by Instaread is an in depth overview of the novel. It covers the main characters and their relationships, the key themes of the story, and the authorâs style. This brief review also points out the weaknesses of the book in an objective review.
Like other Instaread summaries this one can be read in less than 15 minutes, but it gives, nonetheless, a fairly complete insight into the content and worth of the book. If you are a busy reader looking for help in winnowing the âbuyâ from the âdonât buyâ books, this is the tool for you.
A great summary of "Two by Two"
"Two by Two" by Nicholas Sparks is a novel about a 35-year-old husband and father, Russ Green, whose life is upended by circumstances that are alternately within and beyond his control. However this is not that book.
This is the Instaread summary of the novel by Sparks. Instaread does a fantastic job reviewing the book and exploring its themes. This summary condenses the novel into a quick and simple read, and explains the characters and their motivations. I really feel like I know the book much better after reading this summary. I was given an advance copy.
Great summary of Nicholas Sparks's "Two by Two"
This is a summary of "Two by Two" and is not the actual book. It will take you about half an hour to read and will give you a good idea about the book's plot, characters, and themes. "Two by Two" is the story of a man who loses almost everything, but then gains much in return. This summary was interesting and kept my attention. It is well organized and is a great option for those who do not have much time to read.
'WHO' OR 'WHAT' IS THE CHIEF CAUSE FOR MODERN SOCIAL UPHEAVAL AND THE TOLL OF HUMAN SUFFERING IT CREATES ?
This is an overview of the actual book âTwo By Two.â Kind of like an abbreviated âCliff's Notesâ for the FULL book. It provides a potential reader enough information regarding the originalâs content to determine if we want to invest the money and time to actually purchase and read the entire printed copy or E-version.

    Title: Shadow Flight
    Author: Harrison Jones
    Narrator: Thomas Block
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 11 hrs and 24 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 09-16-16
    Publisher: Harrison Jones
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 10 votes
    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
In Shadow Flight, Harrison Jones has spun an aviation tale of kidnapping, drug running, and intrigue. The story opens with flight instructor, Kyle Bennett, teaching slow flight and stalls to one of his students, Brooke Roberts, the wife of a surgeon. Brooke's husband, also a pilot, gave his wife flying lessons as a birthday gift. Ultimately, that gift could cost both Brooke and her instructor their lives. Fast-paced and riveting, this is a flying story that winds its way through almost every facet of a flyer's career, from flight instructing to charter work to airline flying. Jones' background as an international captain for a major airline gives him the unique insight required to tell this account of crime and terrorism. For those interested in flying as a career, this novel is educational in airline operations while the author spins a wonderful yarn. Shadow Flight will not disappoint. Once you begin listening, you will not want to stop until you are finished. If you are a pilot, you will connect with this story on many different levels, but in particular, you will absolutely identify with your own level of flying in this story - from student pilot to flight instructor, to second officer, to line maintenance technicians, to line security, to airline captain. Jones has done a masterful job of portraying much of the aviation industry in Shadow Flight.

    Fast Paced and Fun
Where does Shadow Flight rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
    A solid contender.
What other book might you compare Shadow Flight to and why?
It's an aviation thriller like Thomas Block's own books - "Mayday," "Captain"...
Have you listened to any of Thomas Blocks other performances before? How does this one compare?
Thomas Block has created a solid library of aviation audiobooks, both his own and other authors' works.
Hard to put this one down!
Would you listen to Shadow Flight again? Why?
Yes. This isn't just a "who-dunit" mystery. There are some great characters and wonderful relationships. It's pretty exciting!
Who was your favorite character and why?
    Kyle, of course!
    great book, lousy narration
What did you love best about Shadow Flight?
the story and aviation details were very entertaining
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Thomas Block?
I love Mr. Block's writings, but his narration is soooooo computer like I wonder at times if it was a computer doing the talking.
    Any additional comments?
Great story, enjoyed Mr. Harrison's writings, will probably read his next two books instead of listening to the audio version.
Kept me involved and committed to the story and characters making me want the next of Harrison's books
Great plot and story from beginning to end. Realistic in aviation lingo and funny at the appropriate times and serious at the critical times. I firmly believe anyone would enjoy Shadow Flight. Make or female, aviation fan or not, young or old. Well maybe one of the characters in the book didn't enjoy it so much but it was well deserved. I encourage u to buy this today and find out why Harrison has carved a unique style of writing in a niche that is glamorous and exciting.
    Unpredictable flights
I enjoyed the author's ability to keep my interest at a high level through out the book. Situational "switches" made the story very intriguing and hard to put down.

    Genres: Fiction, Contemporary
    Publisher's Summary:
The Things They Carried meets Jesus' Son in this profoundly insightful, painfully hilarious story about love, war, and cracked spines. For Derrick "Vez" Vezcheck, dwell time - the period at home between deployments - is a different kind of battle. Swap enemies for civilian expectations, and you get a sense of what Vez is up against: a patient and loving wife who'll stick by him no matter what, a young daughter who's a little too OK with seeing dad every six months, and a community that's quick to thank him for his service, even if he himself has long forgotten what he's fighting for. In Battle Rattle, Brandon Davis Jennings' darkly comic and all-too-real follow-up to 2015's award-winning novella Waiting for the Enemy, the war is never out of sight and definitely never out of mind. With redeployment looming and everyone around him falling apart, Vez must choose between making things right at home and utterly destroying everything in his path - before it gets decided for him.
    Members Reviews:
    More Than a War Story
Not to diminish the tragedy of these charactersâ war experiences, but what makes this a must-read is the compassion and empathy Jennings deploys to realistically capture not just the horror of PTSD, but the all too familiar horrors of the every day: our routine failures, inadequacies, and anger. Nothing is rendered lightly, not a trip to pick up a child from ballet class or a mission to hit a target. The novel asks through the often pained and darkly comic narration of its main character Vezcheck: âHow hard is it to just forget about what-ifs and live?â The âwhat-ifsâ function as the battle rattle these characters carry home with them, but the question pertains to anyone whoâs been betrayed by a lover, misunderstood by a child, forced to leave those weâve loved behind, and rendered incapable of expressing why we do some of the dumb s*** we do. This is as much a novella about a collective American depression as it is about our returning soldiers. When war seems ever-present yet distant, itâs all too important to be reminded of our connections to and responsibilities for all of us who are damaged.
    The haunt of war
Brandon Davis Jennings' novella about war and its aftereffects hits the bull's-eye when it comes to fiction veritas. The story of battle buddies Vezcheck, Rake, Cammack and Harris is as real as anything I've ever read about our modern wars. An explosion on a dull afternoon in the desert and the resulting litter of body parts are the things they carry home...and will likely haunt the reader as well. Jennings shows us how the casual swipe of a pen across a document in the Oval Office can consign thousands of men and women to their deaths as well as tens of thousands more who'll be forever changed by war. "Battle Rattle" is full of keenly-observed characters and dialogue that rings true at every syllable. Highly recommended!
Much of his prose involving the American military experience is part of the best being written today
I met Brandon many years back at a writing Conference in Prague (we were roommates). Upon first reading some of his essays and fiction, I was greatly impressed at the craftsmanship, the humor, the wit, and the overall emotional and intellectual depth displayed in his voices and characters.

    Publisher's Summary:
Newly married and having recently taken over the management of a hotel in Honolulu, a former writer is drawn into the lives of his guests and the distinctive customs and rhythms of the distant island.
As witness to the many contrasting chronicles of the hotel's characters, he ultimately returns to writing once again. The result is this novel in 80 distinct episodes, a Chaucerian sequence of strange pilgrims and islanders confronting each other and their fates in the rooms of the seedy hotel.
    Members Reviews:
    Guilty Pleasure
Paul Theroux at is caustic best. The narrator is a disenchanted writer who is the manager of a vintage hotel in Waikiki with topless hula contests and bleary- eyed clientele in the Paradise Lost bar. A semi- retired hooker who is the mother of the âyoung, freshâ Hawaiian he marries lives on the third floor. The owner of the hotel is a self-indulgent blowhard given to sadistic tricks on his relatives who happens to be a millionaire. The cast of outrageous characters goes on with sad pinch lines at the end of each of their bizarre tales. But, somehow it all seems believable. I couldnât stop reading about these locals who hate mainlanders who decide to stay on the âgreen island.â Theroux lives in Hawaiâi and had a lot of fun with the pidgin that locals speak and some of their attitudes. I was sorry when it ended and I had to get back to less entertaining debacles and ridiculous circumstances.
P.S. I am a big fan of Happy Isles of Oceania and Fresh Air Fiend by the same author.
I am the author of Wai-nani: A Voice from Old Hawai'i
A real tast of life in Waikiki.
I was not sure what to expect with this novel but I really enjoyed the storytelling from the prospective of the hotel manager. The characters were great fun and Hotel Honolulu was an entertaining read.
    OK, but not Theroux's best.
Theroux is a master writer, no doubt about it. But his main character (aside from himself as narrator) grew wearisome as one read on, and also simply disgusting. After a while you wonder why you Need to spend your day with this ignorant, brutal slob with no redeeming Qualities. The Basic structure was clever and opened up lots of opportunities, with various kinds of People coming to the Hotel and being scrutinized by the astute manager. Some of this was very good. All in all, I'd say it's worth reading, quickly, but not rereading.
    Five Stars
I love Paul Theroux's books, puts me to sleep in less than twenty minutes. Highly recommend- great reading.
    Off the beaten path
Hotel Honolulu lies off the beaten path, it seems to attract some of the dregs of the tourist world. Its owner has plenty of money and likes to play cruel jokes on his friends (if a movie Danny Devito would be perfect for this part). He hires a new manager from the mainland, who marries one of the local gals and they have a small daughter. He tells tales of the occupants of the hotel. I would have liked the book more if it had not seemed depressing to me, the prostitute stories, the sick jokes of the owner etc. There is no history and parts of the book I really enjoyed, the locals who did the gardening, took care of the pool, they were delightful characters. That is why I could only give this a 3 star.

    Nice gentle read
I enjoyed this book - perhaps not as much as others by the Sheila Newberry - but it was engaging nonetheless. The characters were believable and, if at times the storyline veered off into the absurd (and in my view this was gratuitously unnecessary), it didn't spoil the overall enjoyment. The sort of book you need when the weather is awful and you want an early night with cocoa!!

    A refreshing ride
I found this short excursion quite enjoyable. The reader was great, the story fun while touching on deeper, serious issues, such as how the academic community can discuss in-depth important, critical questions and concepts yet avoid applying them to actual life. It's also telling that Audible records hundreds of fluffy romance and "50 Shades" clones, yet none of the critical theorists mentioned in this book (with the exception of a few in German). "The Culture Industry" provides a few clues on this topic (as well as our current election), but who is interested? Thank you, Douglas Trevor, for this refreshing ride.

Kat Lind, an American expatriate living in London with her entrepreneur husband and their young son, attends an opening at a prestigious Mayfair art gallery and is astonished to find her own face on the walls. The portraits are evidence of a long-ago love affair with the artist, Daniel Blake. Unbeknownst to her, he has continued to paint her ever since.
Kat is seduced by her reflection on canvas, and when Daniel appears in London, she finds herself drawn back into the sins and solace of a past that suddenly no longer seems so far away. When the portraits catch the attention of the public, threatening to reveal not only her identity but all that lies beyond the edges of the canvases, Kat comes face-to-face with the true price of their beauty and with all that she now could lose. Moving between the glamour of the London art world and the sensuous days of a love affair in a dusty Paris studio, life and art bleed together as Daniel and Kat's lives spin out of control, leading to a conclusion that is anything but inevitable.

You have to like art to like this book - but it is ...
You have to like art to like this book - but it is a love story that starts in Paris and ends in England. It has many twists and turns as the two lovers in youth happen to get back together again in their mid-years. One is now married with a child and a husband who travels a lot for business, is well-known and wealthy. The male is the artist and is finally becoming famous after showing his paintings of "her" when they were living together in Paris. She is drawn back to her first love but doesn't want anyone to know that the paintings are of her. It is a twisted tale but exciting and romantic with a surprise and shocking ending. I couldn't put it down!
    A beautifully written book
A beautifully written book. An intriguing story of a woman whose past will come as a surprise to anyone who knows her today in her comfortable and well-off surroundings in Central London. The story is riveting and the writing is both evocative and funny. For anyone who has spend time in London or Paris, you will find the observations amusing â especially that of the expats. The author has a way with words and some of the phrases stick with you. Not often you hear the term âbrave buttonâ but it so vividly describes its predicament. Would highly recommend this book â itâs a fast read. Now Iâd like the author to continue the story of Kat in a second book!
    a great read
A beautifully written book with such perceptive descriptions. Clearly written by a clever author. I loved the complexity of the main protagonist, Kat and the vivid descriptions of life in London and Paris. Life is complicated - sometimes due to the circumstances we find ourselves in, but also because of our choices. Kat finds herself in interesting circumstances when an artist displays his work in London, but it's her choices that give this story its momentum and twists and turns. If you love a story about the complexity of relationships and a strong tale which pulls you through the book, then read this!
    A wonderfully woven story
Mary Waters-Sayer weaves the past and present in her debut novel, and does so with much aplomb. The setting begins with Kat and Daniel in Paris, and then fast-forwards two decades to London. The descriptions of both cities are so detailed that the reader feels transported to those places.
