Today I stumbled across another "that" Christian girl video, which didn't sit well with me. It got me thinking back to my struggle with self-improvement/self-help Christianity and how it led me down a path entirely focused on myself.

The "that" Christian girl content is often accompanied by phrases like "become the best version of yourself," I want to unpack why I think this idea can be a slipper slope for those of us who struggle with becoming some idealistic Christian girl.

What does it mean to idolize an ideal? How does that manifest itself in our lives? How do we spot the idols in the day to day?
I used to spend a combined 10 minutes with God, and treated it like a box I had to check, but would go and spend hours pursuing this ideal version of myself and my life. I let my time with the Lord become superficial and secondary, and the desires of my life were primary and that was very apparent in how I spent my time.
