  • A Life Well-Lived | Sunday Message

What are you really passionate about? What motivates you? In this Sunday morning episode, Pastor Greg Laurie gives us a potent example of living wholeheartedly to know God and make Him known. Discover the key to a well-lived life!

    Notes

The priorities of the early church were prayer, Bible study, and evangelism.

When God is working, Satan will always be attacking.

Happiness is not found in looking for self-fulfillment but self-denial.

An early death means an early crown.

    1. Stephen was well-respected.

Integrity and character are what you are in the dark.

    2. Stephen was full of faith and the Holy Spirit.

To be filled with the Holy Spirit means to be controlled by the Holy Spirit.

    3. Stephen was filled with wisdom.

    4. Stephen was faithful in the little things.

You can never be too small for God to use, only too big!

    5. Stephen looked for opportunities and seized them.

“But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit.” —Acts 6:55

When You obey God, He will fill you with the Spirit.

“And they cast him out of the city and stoned him.” —Acts 7:58

God gave Stephen the grace he needed when he needed it.

As Stephen stood for Jesus on Earth, Jesus stood for Stephen in Heaven!

The Bible promises a believer will enter Christ’s presence immediately following death.

“Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.” —Psalm 90:12

“Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator.” —Ecclesiastes 12:1

    1. For the Christian walking in the will of God, death will come at the appointed time.

    2. The Christian does not have to fear death.

Sleep is only used to describe death for the Christian, not the non-Christian.

    3. In Heaven, all our questions will be answered.

    4. God can bring good out of the worst kind of bad.

Stephen’s life was short, but it was full.

    Stephen went to Heaven.

Where will you go when you die?

  • Encore Interview | Alice Cooper: God, Drugs, and Rock ‘n’ Roll

In this exclusive interview, pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie sits down with rock legend Alice Cooper. Widely considered to be the father of “shock rock,” Alice Cooper has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. While he is known for his music career, most do not know Alice Cooper is a committed Christian.

View this interview in full here.

    ---

In this sprawling conversation recorded at Solid Rock (a teen center in Phoenix created and started by Alice), Cooper and Laurie chat about his journey to faith and how he has used his faith in Jesus Christ to help at-risk youth in his community.

Growing up in a Christian home, Cooper always knew he needed Christ. But it took a dramatic turn in a drug-induced haze for him to realize he needed to recommit to Jesus Christ or he was finished. The son and grandson of preachers, Cooper knew who Jesus was and knew that Christianity was true, yet he wanted to walk his own path—a trail that led him to the heights of stardom, partying, and befriending some of the biggest names in show business.

Then it all changed. His marriage was falling apart and Cooper was in the pits of alcohol and drug use when he decided to quit and get clean. He began going to church and said that it was the fear of God that brought him around, that he was terrified of Hell. Although fear brought him to the Lord, it was the love of Christ that grew him.

The conversation also includes musings by Cooper and Laurie about the so-called “27 Club,” various legends of rock and roll, as well as a discussion about depression, suicide, drugs, alcohol abuse, and their power to destroy. This conversation in its entirety is a testament to the power of God and His transforming power and forgiveness—if we only accept Him and allow Him to change us for the better!

  • The Best Is Yet to Come: An Open Invitation

We're glad you’re along for A New Beginning with Pastor Greg Laurie. For the past couple of months, our study tour through the book of Revelation has brought us John’s eye-opening vision of what God wants us to know about the End Times. John followed the Lord’s instructions carefully in telling us “what you have seen, what is now, and what will take place later.” And we get to the bottom line in today’s study. We’ll see it all culminates in a personal invitation to come to God.

  • Honest to God | Sunday Message

Why is hypocrisy a big deal? In this Sunday episode, Pastor Greg Laurie explains that it keeps us from being truthful with ourselves and with God. Discover the warning signs of hypocrisy and find out how you can avoid it in your spiritual walk! Listen in for a message titled, “Honest to God,” Pastor Greg’s latest in the series The Upside Down Life, from the book of Acts.

    Notes

Satan always plants his imitations and fakes in the church to confuse people.

We are imperfect people trying to serve a perfect God.

We should always be seeking to live Godly lives and become more like Jesus!

The further we go in the Christian life, the further we realize we need to go!

A hypocrite is someone who deliberately deceives others, pretending to be something they’re not.

Acts 5 is the story of two hypocrites who found out the hard way that you can’t pull the wool over God’s eyes.

When Jesus walked this earth, He saved His most scathing words for the pharisees.

Better to be an honest sinner than a lying, hypocritical saint.

    Satan comes like a lion.

In Acts 5, Satan comes in like a serpent.

Every time we see Barnabas (in Acts), he is helping someone.

“You have not lied to men but to God.” —Acts 5:4

Better to be a sinner and admit it than to pretend to be something you’re not.

Judas wanted to appear to be devout when he was in fact devious.

The Holy Spirit has come to show us our need for Jesus, but the worst of all sins and the only unforgivable sin is the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

  • Turning the World Right-Side Up: When Judgment Day Comes

At most restaurants, we order when we’re hungry, but we pay when we’ve eaten and aren’t hungry anymore. That big meal seemed less expensive when we couldn’t wait to taste it . . . but afterward, when we have to settle-up, we wonder if the experience was worth the cost. Spiritually speaking, some will have a similar experience on Judgment Day. Was the experience worth the cost? Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how we can make the right choices right now.
