Greg Laurie: A New Beginning

When’s the last time you turned on cable news and the anchor person said, “Well, no problems to report today. Everything’s fine, people are happy, even the weather is looking good.” No, they report problems, emergencies, crises 24 hours a day. And as we’ve learned in our study of Revelation, things will get much worse during the Great Tribulation. Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us see how the influence of heaven will eventually come down to earth.

Americans spend over 3 hours a day watching TV which is down 33% from 2014. Which is good, right? But wait. Americans spend more than 11 hours a day connected to some kind of media if not TV, then smartphones, games, or computers.

Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie says we need to rethink how we allocate our time and attention. Jesus could return soon even today. What should we be doing when He comes?

It’s not always easy to tell the real from the imitation. Appearances don’t tell the whole story. But eventually, the nature of each will be revealed. And today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie points out how critical it is to make sure we have a sincere relationship with the Lord. Christ could return at any time, and we need to be ready now. When someone’s life has been radically transformed by Jesus Christ, people recognize it. In this Sunday morning podcast, Pastor Greg Laurie defines the attributes that permeate a life of true conversion. Listen in for the latest message from the series, The Upside Down Life from the book of Acts.

Notes

“The doorway of success is often entered through the hallway of failure.”

To be forgiven, there needs to be repentance.

“That your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). The Greek word means to “wash off, erase, and obliterate.”

Don’t choose to remember what God has chosen to forget.

When we repent, “times of refreshment come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19).

1. A person who has been with Jesus will boldly share their faith.

2. A person who has been with Jesus will be a person who knows Scripture.

3. A person who has been with Jesus will be persecuted.

There is power in Jesus’ name!

If and when you’re persecuted, wear it as a badge of honor.

4. A person who has been with Jesus will be a person of prayer.

1. The apostles prayed together.

There is power in united prayer.

2. The apostles acknowledged the sovereignty of God.

“God is able to do what He pleases with whomever He chooses whenever He wishes.” —Chuck Swindoll

3. The apostles prayed for God’s will.

“Lord, I do not ask for a lighter load; I ask for a stronger back.” —C.H. Spurgeon

4. The apostles were once again filled with the Holy Spirit.

Have you been with Jesus?

• Matthew 5:11–12

When we clean out the refrigerator, we’re reminded that nearly everything we buy has a shelf life. With produce, it’s measured in mere days. But so much of what we pursue in our lives has a shelf life. Riches, fame, possessions. They don’t last forever. Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us examine a particular worldview that dominates the End Times. It looks good on the outside, but its shelf life is very short, and the end is destruction.

Some people like spicy food. Consider the Carolina Reaper. It looks innocent enough. But some say it’s the world’s hottest pepper – 200 times hotter than a jalapeño. They say it has an excellent fruity flavor before it melts your face off. Well, in the spiritual realm, things often look innocent enough. But today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie warns us looks can be deceiving and our enemy specializes in deception.

The book of Revelation is a spectacular look at God’s final judgment on sinful man. He pulls no punches. The judgment is swift, sure, and dramatic. But His provision for His own is equally dramatic. Today on A New Beginning, Pastor Greg Laurie brings us a look at the reality of the events of The Great Tribulation. But we’ll also be reminded Jesus will spare those who are His. And don’t forget, Pastor Greg has a brand new commentary on Revelation. Get all the details at harvest.org.
