Grieving is a necessary part of healing from childhood trauma. It can also be one of the most challenging aspects of the process.
Sometimes it’s grieving the loss of someone who meant something to you for which you’ve just not been able to grieve for.
However, oftentimes, the majority of grief comes from the myriad experiences of loss the trauma (and the aftermath) creates.
The sense of innate freedom, play, and joy a child is born with. The feeling of safety with others… and within yourself. A “knowing” that you are enough and ok in the world. A life without the weight of carrying someone else’s shame. The unconditional love and trust every child deserves to experience.
These are just some of the profound losses that impact us throughout our lives, affecting what we believe, how we feel, and how we show up in the world.
People often ask, “How do you grieve something you didn’t have?”
In today’s episode, I’ll share more on why and how this is so impactful and what it means to grieve all you deserved to have.
