I have been wanting to do this for a long time, and I suspect there will be many more opportunities. I know people have questions. I want to answer them! This is not to punish, "disparage" or "paint anyone in a bad light." It's matter of fact. It's the truth. It's what I have experienced. And I hope it can help someone else. Do you have more questions? List them in the comments!

It was our pleasure to have Dana Tingey and Leah Moses on the podcast sharing their experience, knowledge and expertise about domestic abuse and the laws they are helping to pass to protect children. Specifically Om's Law. It's been 3 years since Om died, and Leah expresses both the failures and the progress family court has made and how the battle continues to implement Om's Law with court professionals, judges, lawyers, and victims. Dana is a domestic violence national expert and has helped thousands of women escape abusive partners safely and added safety measures to countless children trapped in family court.

In this episode, we talk honestly about the weight of raising 8 kids, surviving family court, trying to build something meaningful while barely staying afloat, and the reality that Julie's life has become unsustainable doing it alone. But this isn’t a pity story.
It’s about grit.
The Gritlock was created for women who refuse to collapse under pressure. Women rebuilding after betrayal, divorce, court battles, heartbreak, burnout, and survival mode. Women who still know there’s more in them.
If you’re tired of surface-level motivation and want real conversations, real growth, and real connection with women who get it — this is for you.
Welcome to the Gritlock.

Good thing Sundara Medical was able to provide Julie with some information about her health. With psych evals, and stress from a lengthy trial, it affected her health in a negative way. We also talk about the upcoming event May 9th for women affected by family court and domestic abuse. Check out the link to join the Gritty mamas movement!

We were feeling a little spicy in this episode, and tired of the comments about judging. We're supposed to judge righteously! Julie talks about the endless overwhelm during the marriage while the petitioner was always away. Most recently during a big general church event which brought up some rough memories and resentment. Life's definitely not fair, and nobody is coming to save you. Even from an embarrassing musical performance at temple square.

A little update on the crazy neighbor, and some insight on the reality of relationships and a tip on what works. Carley talks about something that worked for her marriage, and Julie talks about what didn't. And it SUCKS!

This podcast took quite a few unexpected turns, but that's how we roll, and it makes for some great conversations. From stalking injections, to sleep paralysis, demons in the night, sourdough, and the intimacy, or lack thereof...sigh....It's a good one.

Well, we hope you enjoy this podcast because it was a freaking traumatizing experience to say the least. This guy is a loose cannon and we thought the timing was perfect to help other women know what they can do to obtain a civil stalking injuction/protective order if they need one too. Don't wait!

Whitney is a freaking rockstar. She tells the story of getting out of the closet she was trapped in, becoming an emancipated minor and making something of herself at such a young age. Chipping away at all the dirt and muck thrown at her little by little. She’s the epitome of a gritty mama!

Listen in as we talk to Whitney, who we now call Gritty Whitty, about her upbringing and what shaped her into the person she is today. We talk about some difficult moments in her youth, like when she was locked in a closet for days and became an emancipated minor at the age of 16. And somehow, she low-key built a full blown medical practice called Sundara! Which we now call the hub and home of the Gritty Mamas podcast.

What happens when life changes the plans—and you have to figure out what comes next?
Welcome to Gritty Mamas with Julie Jeppson. I’m a solo mom of eight and the founder of Gritty Mamas and…
Some weeks, we share what’s happening in our own lives. Other weeks, we sit down with women whose experiences have something to teach us, alongside experts who help us understand ourselves and our options.
My Latter-day Saint faith is part of my story and these conversations. So are laughter, hard questions, and days when we’re still figuring it out.
We don’t always know what comes next, but we have plenty to talk about along the way.
She didn’t break. She built.
