In this episode Phi speaks directly to women about modern masculinity, emotional layers in men, and the hidden inner world behind confident exteriors. Using Off Campus and Garrett Graham as a cultural reference point, the episode explores how men often balance performance, pressure, and emotional suppression, and invites a more nuanced, intuitive understanding of male mental health without excusing harm or ignoring personal boundaries.

I ended up in Sri Lanka on a complete whim; heartbroken, halfway to India, not expecting anything. What I found stopped me in my tracks. Water temples that made me go quiet in the best way. Strangers who became kindred souls within hours. The island healed me in ways I’m still grateful for, and I’ am so excited to be going back.
In this episode I share that story: the messy, beautiful, unexpected truth of what happens when you show up somewhere broken and the place meets you exactly where you are.
Then I share what grew out of it: the Play Retreat. A 7 day, 6 night inner child retreat in Sri Lanka this November, designed for the woman who’s ready to feel lighter, freer, and more herself.
We’re talking a stunning private luxury villa in the lush hills of southern Sri Lanka, a private chef, daily yoga, surf lessons, a safari, tea plantation walks, jewellery making, inner child healing workshops and the kind of women’s connection that you genuinely don’t find everywhere.
This is for you if you’ve been holding it all together for a little too long. If you can’t remember the last time you did something just because it felt good. If there’s a version of you: lighter, more playful, more alive that’s been quietly waiting for permission to come back out.
She didn’t go anywhere. Sri Lanka will help you find her.

Let’s be clear: flow isn’t about doing nothing. It isn’t surrendering your agency. It’s a dance: a delicate interplay between movement and stillness, action and intuition, masculine drive and feminine receptivity. It’s knowing when to step forward and when to let the current carry you.
In our culture, we’ve been trained to overvalue the push, the effort, the grind. I’ve been there.
Long stretches of overwork, stress, and burnout… running on empty until my body finally demanded I listen. When I finally did, I realised: there’s a rhythm beyond struggle, a power in ease, a strength in receiving.
To be in flow is to trust life. To trust that you are supported even when you pause. To trust that your worth isn’t tied to what you can do, but to the energy you bring simply by being yourself.
Feminine energy, soft yet potent, rising to remind us that ease is not weakness… it’s wisdom.
Imagine stepping into a day where you move with intention, nourish your body, awaken your senses, and follow the guidance of your own inner compass. That’s what Flow Retreat is designed to offer: a safe space with like minded women to release the tension of constant doing, to reconnect with your natural rhythm and to feel the luxurious ease of your aligned feminine energy.
We are collectively shifting. The era of relentless push is giving way. Force is softening. Flow is returning. With it comes a richer, more vibrant way of living; one where action and stillness, doing and receiving, ambition and surrender, coexist beautifully.
This is an invitation to stop rowing against the current.
To remember your own rhythm.
To feel the quiet confidence that rises when your masculine and feminine energies stop competing and finally begin to dance.
To step into your flow the place where life doesn’t need to be pushed, because it meets you halfway.
When you’re in flow, your decisions soften into clarity, your creativity opens, and even your relationships feel guided rather than managed. You move in sync with life’s natural rhythm with the Universe, with your soul blueprint. Your human design.
Force, on the other hand, tightens the body and the mind. It’s like rowing upstream: exhausting, effortful, misaligned, slowly disconnecting you from your truth.
Flow expands you. Force contracts you.
When you begin to choose flow over force, something subtle but profound shifts inside you. Your nervous system softens. Your intuition becomes louder. You start noticing the path of least resistance not as an escape, but as guidance. Life begins to speak to you through synchronicities, gentle nudges and opportunities that land without strain. What once required pushing now unfolds with a sense of inevitability, like it was always meant for you.
Flow also invites you back into your body into your feminine way of knowing. The body senses. It whispers. It invites. When we slow down enough to listen, we realise our deepest clarity comes not from overthinking but from presence. From breath. From the quiet places that force never lets us reach. In flow, you remember how powerful you are when you are resourced, receptive, and connected.
As you live more from this state, the world around you shifts too. You attract people, opportunities, and experiences that match your new frequency of ease and alignment. You start recognising that the things meant for you don’t require war with yourself… they arrive through openness, readiness, and inner coherence. Flow becomes not just a concept, but a lifestyle. A return. A reclamation. A reminder that when you let life carry you, it can take you further than force ever could.
Flow shows up beautifully in self care. It’s not just indulgence though it can be, it’s self care that is aligned with your body, mind, and spirit.
That’s mornings on Flow retreat: slow, sunlit mornings, movement that awakens your body, meditation that stills your mind, nourishing food that fuels without guilt (yes hello luxury buffet breakfast, conversation and connection in women’s circle that warms your heart and rituals that feel both indulgent and deeply restorative (daily onsen and spa treatments, yes please!).
Contrast that with force disguised as self care: saying yes to plans you don’t have the energy for, turning a simple walk into a productivity podcast marathon or treating your morning routine like another task to conquer. It looks like slowing down on the outside while still sprinting on the inside. Flow honours you. Force just keeps you occupied.
Flow asks you to move with intention, not obligation. It invites you to create pockets of spaciousness in your day moments where your breath lengthens, your shoulders drop, and your inner world becomes audible again. These small pauses reorient your energy and reconnect you with the part of you that already knows what your next aligned step is.
Force, however, is loud. It demands. It pushes. It convinces you that rest must be earned and that ease is suspicious. Many of us have been conditioned to believe that if we aren’t hustling, we’re falling behind. The truth is, force often leads us further away from the very desires we’re trying to reach. It scatters your energy and disconnects you from your intuition… the very thing that could be guiding you toward effortless expansion.
When you choose flow, you remember that your life responds to your state of being, not your pace.
You come to understand that softness can be powerful, that presence can be productive and that alignment creates results that force never could. Flow doesn’t ask you to stop living your life it asks you to start living it from a place of wholeness, nourishment, and inner knowing. It’s not laziness. It’s leadership. The kind rooted in your soul rather than your stress.
To get into the Flow Retreat Vibe, to shift from force to flow here are 5 practical micro shifts you can integrate right now;
This truly, is why I created the Flow Retreat.
Because stepping into flow isn’t something we just understand… it’s something we embody. It’s something we practice in spaciousness, in beauty, in community, and in environments that allow your nervous system to soften and your spirit to exhale.
At the retreat, we create a container where your feminine energy can rise again where rest becomes a portal, where nourishment becomes a spiritual practice, and where you remember what it feels like to be held instead of holding everything together. Flow becomes your natural state… not something you have to fight for.
We blend luxurious self care, intentional rituals, embodiment sessions, deep inner work and the kind of conversations you rarely get to have in everyday life. It’s a reset, a remembrance, and a reawakening of the part of you that knows you’re meant for more ease, more joy, more alignment.
If you’re wondering whether this retreat can truly shift you, I want to share a few words from past attendees last year who’ve lived the transformation:
“Before FLOW, I was lost, overwhelmed, and craving space to just be.
The retreat felt like a gentle homecoming , it cracked something open in me. Through softness, safety, and the stories of other women, I began to let go. To listen. To trust myself again.
It helped me face truths I’d been avoiding… and in doing so, I’ve travelled solo, navigated a breakup, started a business, landed a new role and most importantly, trusting my intuition again.
I’m still dancing in the in-between, but now I know how to return to me. That’s what FLOW gave me. And I’ll never forget the feeling of peace I experienced in the onsen .Thank you for holding such a sacred space”
“Booking this retreat was one of the best things I’ve done for myself in a long time. I didn’t know what to expect but it was a wonderful opportunity for me to pause, reflect and recalibrate for the next stage of my life. Phi curated a perfect week and a safe and loving space that enabled us all to open up and become immediate friends. It was not without its emotional moment but was also very relaxing and full of fun, laughter, and adventure.
Phi is so warm and open, and tells you what you need to hear. And she pushes you because she knows you can handle it, and that a breakthrough is coming.”
“I can not recommend Phi’s retreats enough, wether your going alone or with a friend everyone is so welcoming and inclusive.
This retreat was the first time I felt like I could fully connect to my feminine. The luxury, pampering and workshops created a space where I felt like I could fully surrender and allow myself to be supported, which is something I’m so grateful for! It was so special to share the experience with women who at first were strangers, but by the end felt like sisters.
The Vietnam flow retreat was something else! accommodation was perfect, the hot springs were so relaxing, food was always incredible along with the activities and workshops Phi planned.
This retreat helped me see myself in a different light and made me feel more comfortable in my own skin, confident in myself and connect to a softer side.
Leaving the retreat I felt so very fortunate to have shared time with such an amazing group of women. Sharing our thoughts and stories, listening, being open and present, enjoying our uniqueness and connections along with plenty of laughs!
It’s something you will never forget.
Flow the retreat is for the woman who’s tired of pushing.
For the woman who wants to feel guided again.
For the woman who wants to feel truly in her feminine.
For the woman who knows there is a more beautiful way to live — and she’s finally ready to choose it.
If that’s you… your flow is calling.
You’ll find all the details, dates, pricing, and the newly released room-sharing options in the link in the show notes on my website phidang.com/flow-retreat or message me on Instagram. Spaces are limited intentionally because this is intimate work, held with care.
Thank you for being here, for listening and for choosing a life that honours your nervous system, your intuition, and your feminine energy.
I hope today’s episode has given you something to reflect on, something to soften into and to let yourself flow.
Until next time, love & positivity.

Welcome back, beautiful soul.
Take a breath with me… In through the nose… and gently out through the mouth.
A moment for yourself to just breathe.
In this moment right now, I want to take you into a part of yourself that doesn’t rush, doesn’t perform and doesn’t need to prove anything. A part of you that is just here.
You, me and this podcast.
The part of you that once felt the world with your whole body… the woman who could taste moments, who could hear the subtle pull of her intuition, who could sense what she needed without thinking. She’s still here. She might be quiet, she might be tired, she might feel far away but she’s not gone. She’s waiting just beneath the surface of your busyness, whispering for you to slow down long enough to notice her.
Sensuality is not about seduction.
Most women don’t actually lose their sensuality: they simply disconnect from it in order to survive.
We learn to silence our senses because feeling too much seems inconvenient, too slow, too vulnerable.
We move so fast that our bodies can’t keep up, so they shut down the very parts of us that make life rich and textured and deeply feminine. Today is your invitation to reopen those doors… gently, without pressure, without expectation.
Sensuality is a key dimension of the feminine.
Notice how rare it is to see men slow down simply to taste their coffee, feel the warmth of it in their hands, or breathe into the moment. Yet for women, this kind of slowing down, savouring, and sensing is both natural and transformative. It’s how we reconnect with ourselves, how we reclaim our energy and how we cultivate the radiance that the world notices before we even speak.
As you listen, see if you can soften your breath.
Your sensual self is the woman who experiences life instead of moving through it on autopilot.
I’ve had many women through 1:1 coaching or on retreats tell me
“I feel disconnected from my feminine energy.”
“I don’t feel feminine — I feel flat.”
“I don’t feel sensual or sexy, I feel stressed”
And they say it or whisper it like it’s a confession or something horrible.
Yet nothing is wrong with you.
You learned to function.
Somewhere along the way… your senses learned to quiet themselves.
Many of us were taught:
Of course you lost touch with your sensuality.
The world praised your doing…but ignored your being.
Your feminine energy: your radiance, intuition, magnetism… it lives in your body and your body communicates through sensation.
When you reconnect with your sensual self, something almost magical happens:
Your nervous system finally exhales.
Sensuality is what makes a normal life feel luxurious.
It is the difference between drinking tea…and savouring tea.
Between getting dressed… and adorning your body.
Between rushing through your day and being attuned to the way the air feels on your skin.
This is not superficial.
It reminds you:
I wanted to share 3 simple, short and sensual practices to help you reconnect more with your sensuality.
Let’s drop into your body for a moment.
Take a slow inhale…
Feel your chest rise…
Now scan your body.
Maybe your legs feel heavy…
There is no right sensation.
This is how you start relearning your body’s language.
Gently glide your hand over your arm…
Feel the texture.
Don’t judge… just receive.
This alone can reconnect you with your feminine essence.
If you have something to drink, bring it to your lips.
This is sensuality:
It doesn’t require a new lifestyle… just new awareness.
Your sensual self is not someone you need to become.
She is the woman you were before:
She is your most natural state.
And she has been waiting… patiently…
If something inside you stirred during this episode…
Then that is the exact energy I created my luxury feminine energy retreat Flow for.
A space where your nervous system gets to rest — fully.
Imagine mornings that feel slow and sacred.
If this episode resonated…the retreat will feel like stepping into the version of you your soul is craving. Flow the Vietnam Retreat launches next week on Monday 1st December 2025. May 24th – 29th in Hue, Vietnam 2026 at a 5 star luxury wellness resort. More details to come!

Hello my love,
You may have seen my recent Instagram post last week where I spoke about healing is in the feeling, in that very same meditation what I felt came through was the desire to speak about beauty. It came through softly, an invitation from the divine and universe to explore more about feminine energy, that’s both magnetic and complex. To be honest it doesn’t come as a surprise to me as Flow, the luxury self care feminine energy retreat I will be running again in Vietnam next year in May 2026 will be launching at the end of this month (if you’re interested please get in touch!).
When we talk about beauty, so many different feelings arise. For some, it’s admiration or inspiration. For others, it’s comparison, longing, or even discomfort. Beauty can be something we desire, something we chase or something we feel the need to downplay. It brings up questions of worthiness, identity, visibility and validation.
In the feminine journey especially, beauty holds this multifaceted energy it’s something we’re often taught to seek and celebrate, yet it’s also something that can bring unwanted attention, judgment, or pressure. Society tells us beauty is power, but it also tells us to be careful with it, to not shine too brightly (especially tall poppy syndrome which I’ve mentioned a few times on the podcast). Beauty is something you may have complicated relationship with something that, in its essence, is natural and sacred.
In today’s episode, I want to unpack that. What beauty really means beyond the surface, how it shapes our sense of self and how we can begin to reclaim it as something soulful, embodied, and free.
There’s so many layers to beauty from such a young age, we’re shown what beauty should look like in magazines, on screens, in the faces and bodies that get shown to mass audiences. Somewhere along the way, we start to measure ourselves against those images. We learn that beauty equals approval, attention, acceptance. It’s like this silent curriculum that teaches us how to be seen, sure, but not necessarily how to see ourselves.
Then as women, we live this strange contradiction. We’re told beauty is our currency, but also that it’s dangerous. It’s confusing bringing alive different parts of our self: one part of us craving to feel beautiful, radiant and alive and another part shrinking from the attention or judgment that might come with that.
What if the unlearning is that beauty is simply the energy of being fully yourself…. fully present, fully alive? The way you move when you’re connected to your truth. The light that radiates from you when you’re at peace in your body, in your heart, in your mind, in your life. That’s a different kind of beauty = one that doesn’t depend on validation or visibility. It’s raw, it’s sacred, and it’s yours.
When I think about healing and beauty together, I realise they’re not that different. Both ask for honesty. Truth. Very much the collective energy we are being asked of with the recent super full moon in Taurus. Both ask us to feel, to soften, to come home to ourselves.
So if we expand this thread of beauty as energy that’s what I feel the yearning and desire to speak to you about.
There’s beauty in the pure desire to make things beautiful. One of my dear friends Aimee really inspires me in this regard. Like she will really think of the aesthetics of the room, she’ll light beautiful pillar candles when she journals.
Honestly, how lucky are we as women to be the ones who create beauty in the world and stereotypically seen as beauty too (don’t get it twisted men are beautiful too!). To gather around long, sunlit lunches with decorations and custom menus like as women we’ll choose colours and textures, to make the table itself part of the story and experience itself. There’s something so innately feminine about that… the way we make spaces feel alive, loved, intentional.
It’s not about extravagance. It’s about care. It’s the Venus, Aphrodite likeesque in us that impulse to bring warmth and sensuality into the ordinary. To say, “this moment matters enough to be beautiful.”
Those little things: a table laid out with fresh bread, a linen napkin, jazz music playing in the background — it feels like ceremony. Like we’re weaving beauty into life and maybe that’s what the feminine does best: we beautify as a way of blessing.
It’s easy to dismiss those gestures as trivial, but they’re not. They’re sacred. They remind us that beauty doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful it just has to be felt. The simple act of creating something lovely is its own kind of prayer. It nourishes not only the people around us, the universe itself and our own sense of aliveness.
In this way beauty is nourishment. It feeds the soul the way food feeds the body. When we honour that when we allow ourselves to revel in it without guilt we remember that being a woman is, in itself, a celebration of life.
There’s also this other side of beauty that I can’t ignore: the beauty that lives inside pain. I think part of this comes from being an emotional authority in Human Design and having so much water energy in my astrology chart. My world is felt before it’s understood. Everything moves through me like a tide, the ocean you’ll know when I do human design readings I talk about emotions being like waves and sometimes, that means I experience life in this really tender, liquid way. Honestly… I find that beautiful. I really do.
Not always easy but beautiful. A privilege to feel really. Is it weird that I find crying beautiful? There’s something so exquisite about it the way emotion builds and releases, the way your body becomes the ocean for a moment. It’s this sacred raw honesty that can’t be faked (for a moment can we suspend crocodile tears manipulative. When you’re an authentic genuine person you’re crying, you’re not pretending. You’re not performing. You’re just… real. There’s so much beauty in that. Realness.
Water in it’s purest alchemy: washing away what’s heavy, softening what’s tough and rigid, clearing space for something truer to come through. That’s what emotional authority feels like to me: not control but permission. Permission to feel it all. Permission to let the waves move through. Beauty is not the absence of pain but the willingness to meet it with tenderness. To stay open, even when it hurts. To find grace in the breaking.
When we allow ourselves to feel fully, even the hard things start to shimmer. The tears catch the light. The pain becomes poetry. To me, especially as someone who loves words, writing and communication that is one of the most beautiful experiences we can have as humans: that raw, unfiltered intimacy with our own hearts.
There’s beauty in darkness. there’s beauty in the darkness those moments and experiences that feel heavy, uncertain, or lonely. We need the dark to see the stars; without it, their light wouldn’t mean as much. It’s the same with us our beauty isn’t only in our light, it’s in the contrast. The way we break and mend, hide and reveal, die and bloom again.
When you ask for flowers don’t be surprised when it rains. Can’t have one without the other.
The darkness feeds the growth. The tears water the soil and that links back to what I said earlier The things that feel messy or inconvenient are often the very things that make us real.
I think the feminine understands that better than anything that creation and destruction, light and shadow, beauty and pain, all exist together. There’s no shame in the dark. It’s fertile, it’s necessary, it’s beautiful in its own quiet way. Beauty isn’t about avoiding the dark, but embracing it: trusting that every season, every storm, is part of our artistry. When we let the darkness do its work, we start to glow differently. Softer. Truer. From within. This is the oracle, the feminine, the intuitive within us.
In the conscious intentional curation there’s beauty as I said earlier and the duality and what can also exist is there’s the beauty in mess. The honest, lived in, unpredictable kind. The pile of laundry on that chair, the kitchen counter splattered with ingredients after cooking (goodness me and a spaghetti bol), children’s artwork taped crookedly on the wall. The scattered notebooks, the tangled cords, the half finished projects. It’s life in motion. It’s evidence that you are doing, trying, living. There’s rhythm, there’s texture, there’s human. There’s a way it makes you pause, laugh, sigh or feel deeply.
Mess reminds us that beauty isn’t only about perfection or intention. It’s about presence. It’s about noticing, even in chaos, the small sparks of order, love, and colour. It’s about embracing the imperfection and seeing it as part of the story, not as a problem to fix.
So if your life feels messy, or if the world around you feels cluttered, remember that too is a form of beauty. Not polished, not perfect, but definitely alive and human: the most human kind of beauty there is I’d say.
There’s certain mindset insights when it comes to beauty.
There’s the beauty in simply being slowing down enough to notice the world and yourself in real time. It’s different from the beauty in pain, in mess or in creation. This beauty isn’t about doing or fixing or feeling. It’s about presence.
It’s in the way light hits a table in the afternoon making a rainbow love that, the sound of leaves rustling outside your window, hearing the rain fall down the window, noticing the way your own breath moves in your chest. It’s in pausing long enough to notice the small details you normally rush past. The beauty is in attending, in leaning into the moment fully, without expectation or judgment.
Slowing down allows beauty to reveal itself quietly in textures, colours, sounds and rhythms that are usually drowned out by the noise of doing. It’s not flashy, and it doesn’t need anyone else to validate it. It’s subtle, intimate, humming, living a reminder that the world is full of wonder if we simply take the time to see it.
This is the kind of beauty that feels gentle but powerful. It nurtures the soul without demanding anything from it, and it invites us to practice simply showing up with our senses wide open.
More mindset driven insights emerge when we examine our relationship with beauty not just how we see it, but how we value it. The ways we invest in beauty, or choose not to, often reveal deeper stories we’ve carried about ourselves, worth, and survival. For example, if you feel like spending money on beauty is frivolous or “not worth it,” that hesitation might not be about vanity at all. It may reflect an internalised sense of scarcity, a survival mindset that you don’t have enough so you need your money for something else even when honestly you actually do have an overflow of money for example.
It might reveal a pattern of putting others first, of believing that your needs, your pleasure, or your self expression are secondary. In this sense, beauty reveals your relationship to abundance, self permission and care. Perhaps beauty dances with deserving. Do you feel worthy of receiving pleasure, adornment, and care?
I’ts not about guilt or judgment. It’s about awareness. Noticing these patterns allows us to explore the subtle ways we either honor ourselves or deny ourselves. Choosing to invest in beauty, even in small ways, can be a radical act of self recognition and self love. It’s a declaration that you are worthy of attention, delight, and care: that your body, your presence, your being matters.
Sometimes, the act of adorning yourself, of surrounding yourself with beautiful things, is less about the things themselves and more about what you’re saying to your own soul: I see you. You are valuable. You deserve to feel pleasure and delight.
Rejecting beauty entirely can also be informative. It can reveal resistance discomfort, or even fear perhaps from experiences where beauty attracted unwanted attention, judgment, or pressure. It may be tied to beliefs that beauty is a performance, a currency, or a trap. In recognising this, we can begin to separate external pressures from our own authentic desires. I suggest you start asking yourself: what kind of beauty serves you, nourishes you, and reflects you inner truth? Beauty is a a language, a form of self expression and a tool for understanding and embracing our relationship with ourselves.
Remember beauty doesn’t have to be about excess or indulgence. The paradox is that you can fully enjoy beauty without overextending yourself or going into debt. Mindful conscious engagement with beauty keeps it grounded and sustainable. It’s about intention, presence, and discernment: choosing what resonates with you, caring for yourself in ways that feel authentic, and allowing beauty to enhance life rather than become a source of pressure or performance.
The way you pause in awe of a sunset, the way your heart softens at the sound of laughter, when you catch your self smiling at the married old couple or the girlfriends have a giggle over wine, the way you notice the shimmer on the ocean that recognition isn’t random. It’s resonance. It’s life showing you yourself.
The beauty you see in nature, in art, in another person’s face… it’s a mirror. It’s the part of you that’s awake enough to notice it. You are that beauty, perceiving itself.
That’s why beauty feels so personal, so moving. Because it’s not just “out there.” It’s in you, looking back. It’s in your eyes, your soul, your presence. It’s in your willingness to see.
So when you catch yourself captivated by something beautiful: a moment, a texture, a scent, a light remember that what you’re really witnessing is your own soul saying, this is me.
Beauty in nature. Beauty in creation. Beauty in you. It’s all the same pulse of the same divine frequency expressed in a thousand different forms. Oneness. It’s like hey the universe created beauty around you for you.
Ultimately, beauty is both a reflection of and a conduit for feminine energy. It’s the part of us that creates, nurtures, and embodies pleasure, care, and presence. It’s when we notice the world around us, in the rituals we cultivate, in the courage to feel deeply and allow ourselves to be seen. Beauty shows up in our tears, in our mess, in the sometimes chaotic messy emotional unfolding of life, and in the devotion we bring to our own lives and the lives of others.
As we’ve explored today, beauty isn’t just external or performative it lives in pain and vulnerability, in stillness and presence, in the messy, imperfect, lived in aspects of our human experience. It’s the rhythm of creation, the pulse of feminine energy.
So as you move through your day, I invite you to notice the ways you create, receive, and recognise beauty in yourself, in others, and in the world. Beauty is not something you chase; it is something you live, feel, and allow to shine through every part of you.
In this episode, we dive into a simple feminine ritual that can instantly reconnect you to your energy and help you feel more aligned, radiant, glowy, grounded and present.
We explore subtle practices that awaken your natural rhythm, honour your body, and invite softness and flow into your day.
Tune in to discover how a few simple intentional shifts can transform the way you feel without doing more necessarily.

Hello my love, welcome back I’m so glad you’re here.
It’s November and this month has flown by like honestly Christmas is next month, 2026 is 2 months away – wild. We’re getting into what is traditionally known as the busiest time of the year but here I am dedicating an episode on the poddy on why rest is more important than ever.
I want you to ask yourself a gentle question: When did you learn that rest was wrong?
I already know it’s not consciously. You didn’t wake up one day and say, hmm… I think I’ll deny myself rest and build my self worth around exhausted and doing things all the time
You more than likely absorbed it. Watching the women around you run on empty. Always giving. Always available. Always doing. You saw that “good women” didn’t stop… They didn’t say no. They didn’t ask for support. They didn’t nap or take long baths or lounge in sunlight.
If you’re listening I know more likely than not you want to tap more into your feminine energy and Feminine energy isn’t built on depletion… it’s built on overflow.
Signs you have a wounded relationship with rest
If any of these resonate… I want you to put a hand on your heart.
Take a breath.
There is nothing wrong with you. It’s because you’ve learnt that rest is dangerous. Maybe rest means you could be forgotten, or in trouble or unloved. You are simply a woman who learned to survive.
Your nervous system remembers every moment you had to hold the world together alone. So now, when you try to soften, your body panics not because rest is wrong, but because rest was never safe before. That’s not a failure. It’s actually your brilliance. Your survival intelligence. The part of you that says “keep going” is the same part that once kept you safe. She protected you. She carried you. She made sure you survived in environments where softness wasn’t allowed.
Now she’s tired. She doesn’t know rest is safe yet and I want you to know: I see her. I see you.
You’re not lazy. You’re not lacking discipline. Your nervous system doesn’t know how to feel safe without being go go go all the time.
The healing isn’t in forcing rest. It’s in teaching your body that rest is no longer a threat. Not by shaming your resistance, but by honouring it. Listening to it. Softening with it slowly.
You don’t need to push yourself to relax. You get to ease yourself into safety. One breath at a time. One pause at a time. One permission at a time. In time your body unlearns rest as a threat and comes to embrace rest.
Rest is the doorway to receiving. Receiving pleasure. Receiving ideas. Receiving support. Receiving love. Receiving abundance. Think about it a flower without water cannot bloom, a dried riverbed cannot nourish.
When you deprive yourself of rest, you are depriving yourself of reception: the essence of feminine magnetism.
My love I want you to receive sacred pleasurable rest not collapse rest.
Many women think “rest” just means crashing after exhaustion curling into bed after a long day, scrolling aimlessly on your phone or numbing out with TV or wine. That’s what I call collapse rest: it’s reactive, unconscious and often leaves you feeling empty or guilty afterward. It’s the rest of survival, not the rest of flourishing. Your body is drained. The mind is restless. You rest because you have to. You might feel guilty. Your energy isn’t restored fully.
So collapse rest is what happens when our bodies have been whispering for hours, days, sometimes weeks… and we ignored the call. It’s the crash, the numbing, the autopilot. It’s rest that arrives only after we have pushed past our limits and done too much and doth our body protests: I can’t keep going for you.
Sacred feminine rest feels very different. It is chosen, not forced. It is intentional, sensual and nurturing. Consciously chosen. It’s not collapse, it’s conscious surrender. Instead of numbing, it awakens. Instead of escaping, it anchors. Sacred rest is the moment you turn toward yourself with tenderness. It’s lighting a candle, slowing your breath, feeling the warmth of tea in your hands, stretching your body gently, letting soft music hold you. It’s letting the nervous system soften before it breaks and letting pleasure, self love, self care not exhaustion guide the pause.
When you pick up your journal choosing a slow evening ritual, when you lie down midday just for a moment to feel the rise and fall of your breath you are communicating something powerful to yourself: You matter.
This kind of rest brings you home. Home to your intuition. Home to your body. Home to a pace that was designed for your feminine nervous system, not the demands of a world addicted to speed and patriarchal productive framework. Pleasurable rest doesn’t pull you out of life it drops you deeper into it. It’s a reunion with your energy, your sensuality, your quiet power. It is not a timeout from life, but a return to yourself. When a woman learns how to rest like this, she doesn’t become weaker she becomes luminous, glowy, grounded, and magnetic in a way that only true nourishment can create.
Pleasurable rest is an experience. It’s not a passive state. It’s actively claiming softness, safety, and your own devotion. It’s a form of self-love that the world often doesn’t make space for, but that your feminine energy thrives on.
Examples of sacred pleasurable feminine energy rest:
A warm bath with essential oils and candlelight
Tending to plants slowly and mindfully
Making infused water with fruits and herbs, sipping with spaciousness
Journaling in the sun, barefoot on the grass
Watching the sunrise or sunset with complete stillness
Drawing and painting for fun and expression
If listening to this has your body whispering for more softness, more space to simply be and slow down then imagine what it would feel like to fully immerse yourself in that energy for a week. That’s exactly what we’re creating in our upcoming Flow Luxury Self Care Feminine Energy Retreat Vietnam May 24th to 30th, 2026 immerse yourself in mineral-rich spa waters, nourish your body with delicious, fresh meals and gentle movement, and simply be held in the presence of women who honour the sacred power of rest and the feminine. It’s more than a retreat; it’s a return to yourself, your true feminine nature: a pause from the world and a chance to step into your feminine energy fully and luxuriously. Flow will launch at the end of this month but if you already know DM me on Instagram or email me!
Now that we’ve explored what sacred, pleasurable rest can feel like, let’s talk about how to start bringing it into your daily life. Here are some simple, intentional ways to start rewriting your relationship with rest, beginning with micro-rest moments.
Micro-Rest Moments
Make rest a part of your routine perhaps its through:
An innate part of the feminine responds to beauty and sensuality.
Replace Guilt With Gratitude
When guilt arises, shift to gratitude:
Rest does not take from you: it gives back to you.
Thank you for taking this time to slow down and reconnect with yourself today through this podcast.
Remember, rest isn’t just about sleeping or stepping away from life it’s a beautiful intentional practice of nourishment, presence and self love. Each moment of intentional rest no matter how small or even if it’s 30 seconds rewires your body, calms your mind and reconnects you with your feminine energy. May you continue to honour yourself and sacred pleasurable rest. Giving yourself to rest is one of the most powerful things you can offer yourself.

In this episode, we explore the quiet underrated and often misunderstood power of softness… not as weakness but as one of the greatest strengths we can embody. Drawing on themes that emerged during my Bali Radiance Retreat, we dive into what it really means to soften in a world that often asks us to harden, to armour up, to stay closed and unshakable.
Work with Phi
Hello my love, welcome back to the Grow Through It Podcast with me Phi.
I’m back from Bali where I recently ran my Radiance Retreat hence why softness actually has been on my mind a lot lately. It was a huge theme that surfaced during the recent retreat how gentleness, presence, and the ability to soften are not weaknesses, but deep forms of strength. As we explored this on retreat I shared with the beautiful women the realisation that softness doesn’t exist without shadow: the parts of ourselves we hide, suppress like our fears and parts of us, our feelings that we deem as too much or perhaps negative.
Today, I want to talk about both: how softness and shadow live and dance together, and how embracing both can lead to real growth, presence, and connection. We’ll dive into what it means to soften in the face of life’s challenges, to meet our shadows with curiosity and care and to embody strength that is tender yet deeply powerful. For anyone listening, I’ll be diving even deeper into softness and shadow in Flow (luxury feminine self care) Vietnam Retreat next year at the end of May 2026launching very soon, so DM me for more info. Let’s get into it.
We all harden at some point in our lives, maybe you are still hard and it’s because you learnt to be this way. The world teaches us to harden. To brace. To armour up.
We tighten our shoulders against bad news. We build walls around our hearts after heartbreak.
Softening is not about losing strength. It’s about remembering that gentleness is a kind of strength. It means letting the body breathe again. It means letting your jaw unclench, your shoulders drop, your grip relax. Think of it like flow and water. Water flows around obstacles but it shapes mountains. Softening isn’t becoming less.
You become vast: spacious enough to hold both strength and surrender, both clarity and compassion. Softening is power and it’s something I return to time and time again working with clients: strength isn’t hardening after you perceive the world or someone or something wrongs you or hurts you… strength is in healing yet remaining true to your nature and if you’re listening to this I have a feeling your nature is loving, kind and respectful. It’s the part of you that keeps choosing softness, even after life gives you every reason to close.
Softness is not your weakness. it’s your essence. It’s your truth. No wound, no betrayal, no disappointment can take that away from you…unless you let it. Softness doesn’t erase the hurt; it simply gives our hearts permission to move through it, to hold both the pain and the possibility of joy.
Softness is often seen as a gentle, almost fragile quality but for women, it’s deeply resonant because it’s about reclaiming something that society frequently asks us to suppress. From a young age, many of us are taught to be “strong” by being hard, self sufficient and accommodating. We push down emotions, shrink ourselves to fit expectations, and prioritise others over our own presence.
In a safe space such as recently on Radiance Retreat in Bali, softness comes alive because the container itself allows women to feel safe to drop their armor. In that space, there’s no need to perform, compete, or over explain. Softness becomes a shared language: a way to feel deeply, to connect with our bodies, our intuition, and each other. It resonates because it’s a return to essence as the feminine: our natural capacity to be tender, open, and receptive, without it being a weakness.
Softness on retreat also allowed for reflection on shadow parts anger, grief, fear or self-doubt: that are often ignored in everyday life. By leaning into softness, we can meet these hidden parts with compassion, not judgment, and feel the relief, clarity, and empowerment that comes from integrating all aspects of themselves. Ultimately, softness resonates because it is both radical and restorative: it is the courage to be fully human, to honour your body, your heart, your voice, your soul and to feel again all together.
If it feels safe to do so, I invite you to take this moment for yourself, a pause. Let your breath come in through your nose, slowly. Then out through your mouth. Notice where you’re holding tension. Your jaw. Your stomach. Your hands. Your thoughts. Now, imagine those places softening not collapsing, just… loosening. Imagine sense feel perceive receiving permission for this moment to hold you instead of the other way around. Sometimes softening starts in the body, and the heart follows and other times, it starts in the heart and the body finally exhales
Softening is not just personal… it’s relational. It’s how we listen when someone disagrees with us. Do you listen to understanding or do you listen to win or be right or be better? It’s how we respond when a friend needs space instead of advice. It’s how we meet ourselves on the days we can’t do everything.
Softness isn’t feminine as stereotypes would dictate. It’s human. It’s the way it moves through masculine and feminine energy has a different rhythm, a different texture. The feminine’s softness is fluid: it flows, it surrenders, it opens. It’s the softness of water: intuitive, receptive, magnetic. It expresses itself through feeling, through presence, through allowing.
The feminine softens when feeling safe and in trusting: trusting her body, her intuition, the natural unfolding of life. The feminine says “I don’t need to control the outcome. I can stay open and receive what’s meant for me.”
The masculine’s softness is spacious: it steadies, it holds, it protects without possessing. It’s the softness of the mountain: firm yet yielding, powerful yet still. It expresses itself through groundedness, clarity, and listening. The masculine softens by releasing rigidity by allowing himself to feel without losing presence. He says: “I can be strength without dominance. I can hold space without control.”
When both soften, harmony is born. The feminine feels safe to open and the masculine feels safe to be vulnerable. Softness becomes the meeting point where heart and soul meet, flow and focus, begin to dance. That’s where real connection lives. This sacred meeting of strength and surrender each softened enough to see the other.
Working with male, females and couples I get asked well do women want a soft man… yes but not in the way softness is often misunderstood. When most women say they’re drawn to a soft man, they don’t mean weak, passive or unanchored. They mean a man who is emotionally intelligent, self aware, and open hearted someone who can meet them in presence rather than power struggle.
A “soft man” in this sense is: grounded but not controlling, strong but not aggressive, kind but not submissive, can access both his masculine and feminine energies. He can lead and listen without dominating, aggression and can be the calm in the eye of the feminine emotional storm.
Softness isn’t the absence of darkness. In fact, it lives alongside it. Our shadows the parts of ourselves we’ve been taught to hide, the fear, the anger, the grief are not enemies. They are pieces of the whole self that, when met, teach us depth, compassion and resilience.
When we soften, we don’t disappear into our shadows; we let them be seen, heard, and understood. Softness gives space for anger without letting it dominate. It gives space for grief without letting it define us. Shadows soften when they are acknowledged rather than suppressed.
Shadow isn’t the opposite of light; it’s duality and a teacher. The feminine learns where her boundaries have softened too far. The masculine learns where his rigidity masks fear. Both shadows, when met with gentleness, transform into wisdom.
We all carry shadows. They are the pieces of us that we’ve tucked away because they felt too much to bear, too unlovable, or too dangerous to show. Sometimes, they show up as anger that surprises us, sadness that lingers too long, or fear that whispers we’re not enough. Shadows are not mistakes or weaknesses they are the human parts we’ve been taught to hide. Yet, when we soften toward them, when we breathe into them instead of running, we can grow.
Softness and shadow are not opposites… they are partners. To be soft does not mean ignoring the darkness inside us; it means creating space for it.
Shadows need acknowledgment, not judgment. They need attention, not suppression. When we meet them, face them head on, they transform. They teach us patience, depth and the courage to stay present with ourselves and others.
Our shadows show themselves differently depending on our energy, our life, our history. The feminine shadow might appear as over giving, fear of rejection or loss of voice. The masculine shadow might appear as rigidity, control or emotional avoidance. When we soften toward these aspects, something shifts: boundaries become clear, presence deepens, strength is reclaimed. Softness becomes the bridge between who we are in the light and who we are in the dark. It is the space where healing and understanding live.
From today I hope you take out that softness is a strength and your shadows are not enemies; they are parts of your story, parts of your strength, the edges that make you and your light meaningful. Hold your shadow gently, be aware of it, let it sit beside you, not behind walls, not buried, but fully acknowledged. When you allow your softness to embrace your shadow, you step into your full self: grounded yet fluid, strong yet tender, whole, human and unafraid.
Softness doesn’t always look like it “wins” in the ways the world measures success. It doesn’t shout the loudest, move the fastest or push the hardest in fact it can often move quietly, slowly: attuned… listening, feeling, responding over reacting. The world we live in may feel as if it often rewards sharp and striving making softness can seem like it’s at a disadvantage.
Softness wins in a different way. It wins in depth, not dominance. It wins in connection, not competition. Softness is what allows us to stay human when life gets hard — to keep our hearts open when it would be easier to close. It’s what allows love to grow, creativity to flow and healing to happen.
Softness doesn’t mean you let people walk over you. It means you stand in your truth without losing your tenderness. You can say no with love. You can hold boundaries with grace. You can face challenge without becoming hard.
So yes… softness does win but not by defeating or overpowering. It wins by enduring, by transforming, by outlasting everything that isn’t real. Because what’s truly strong doesn’t need to fight to prove itself. It simply is.
