In today Healing From Within, your host Sheryl Glick an intuitive healer medium and author of The Living Spirit, welcomes David Young , author of Channeling Harrison, who provides the Most Heavenly Music on Earth as he shares how synchronicity faith and destiny propelled him forward to live a life of sharing the magic of life through his music and books.

David will share his musical journey and spiritual awakening process and as I feel all great art is inspired by a powerful higher Universal Energy we may come to see how synchronicity talent hard work and faith led to David Young, musician, producer, artist to become one of the most successful independent artists of his time.

David’s musical experience began in California after getting several jaywalking tickets, a speeding ticket and needing money to pay the fines and with 100 dollars left to his name, David moved out of his apartment and into a friend’s place and was desperate. Earlier that month, he met a girl who played the harp at Venice Beach and invited David to play with her. Soon there was a huge crowd and money was raining down into our basket…..They both recorded a tape and called our music Celestial Winds and sold them at the beach. Later they were sold at festivals all over the country.

Sheryl wonders how being a middle child may have influenced why he began to play two flutes at once. David says, “People were saying, ‘Oh look at that beautiful girl playing the harp’ and he felt invisible which drove him nuts…David was always the lead singer and lead guitarist of his bands and had always been at the center of attention and ALSO was a middle child often who look either for attention or are overachievers. After a couple of months of playing the same 8 or 9 songs about 30 times a day she was still getting all the attention so David began to play the 2 flutes at once and then got ALL the attention.”

David started playing the recorder in the 3rd or 4th grade..Sheryl says she began in College as it was required for a major in education and for becoming a teacher.. Sheryl says, “I was awful at it too. Even though I love music, singing off key and dancing in my own way.” You say by the second year you figured out how to play by ear while listening to the radio….Sheryl Says I am always amazed that people who don’t read music like my grandmother but played the piano beautifully.

David describes his music sounding like elements of Cat Stevens, John Mellencamp and Jethro Tull. Great Music is timeless. Cat Stevens makes you feel and think about life. John Mellencamp writes about our culture and it makes you want to move and have fun. Jethro Tull is instantly recognizable because he plays the flute and there’s not many flute players in rock and roll. David says he doesn’t actually play the flute, it’s a renaissance flute called a recorder.

David wrote a song that Sheryl believes speaks for all of us and our search for Truth…The song is I’m still Missing You.

I wish I really knew what life was all about

Why some people have so much and others live without

I wish I had a dream that really did come true

But I really wish I knew why I’m still missing you

I wish I really knew why this world has so much pain.

Why we live and why we die and then do it all again.

And if I ever understand all the struggles I’ve been through,

Today Sheryl welcomes Dr. Luke Adler author of Born to Heal who shares his belief that physical and emotional dysfunction originate from disconnection from our spiritual essence.

Luke Adler, is a Board Certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist, who has the highest level of national certification for Chinese Medicine has worked in India with allopathic doctors and Ayurvedic and homeopathic physicians. Luke will address how a diverse spiritual background and his training impact his healing work and a greater view of the human and soul condition.
Luke says, “When I was thirteen I discovered God inside my heart and inside everything that exists. Through meditation and the practice of eastern yoga I found a method to know God. I came to realize that enlightenment was not so far off in the distance but a natural evolution for doing one’s spiritual work. Every day the Universe gives us an opportunity to become feel and grow our Light. We each have a mystical core that connects us to God. I was born to heal and so were you.”

Born to Heal is a journey of self-exploration that we each make for the truth always exists and only awaits our realization.
Throughout the book Luke uses the word Universe or God Spirit Nature Divine Love and Grace interchangeably and expresses that the word Healing can be interchanged with Growth Maturation Enlightenment and Evolution. Nothing is ever broken..there is nothing wrong with you…there are only places you have yet to know.

Part of the intention for Born to Heal is to engage in a conversation about health happiness and fulfillment: to change culturally how we view disease and health: and to learn that under every complaint or negative behavior there is a desire for more love intimacy connection to yourself and others.

The right to know your true Nature is yours. Only you can find and know your divinity. Born to Heal can help you know the truth that can only be accessed by your own heart.

On a practical level people look for healing for the body through medical intervention: prescriptions, surgery, physical therapy, psychotherapy etc. for improving health. Health is really a practice of self-inquiry as a pathway to knowing yourself and the world in a more natural and connected energetic way. Healing happens within your heart.

Sheryl relates a story… “One day my two and a half year granddaughter, told me her head hurt so I asked if she wanted Reiki. I then put my hand near her head…I could feel the pain and thought she might be worried about something…I asked her where she felt the reiki energy…She answered, “In my heart..I feel it in my heart,” and that was where the hurt was really coming from…I was so touched I could actually feel my heart move…”

Sheryl says to Luke, “It seems your mother who was Christian and your Dad who was Jewish exposed you to a meditation teacher Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and you were given a spiritual name as a baby while your parents waited on line to receive Darshan a prayer of gratitude and blessings from the teacher. Later at a center near Upland California you attended with your family… at a retreat in San Francisco where you saw a picture of a female guru whose energy washed over you and you had an opening of kundalini energy and a profound sense of home moved through you. It seemed that In a flash questions you had wondered about were answered…Why am I here? Who am I? I suddenly had the answer….I am Divine…I’m here to share Love and help others along the path. I was home inside connected to my Divine source.

Many people who may not seek remedial treatment for emotional or psychological problems may find their troubled lives illuminated and enriched by joining community groups and activities.

Dr Erving Polster, the director of The Gestalt Training Center in San Diego inspires practitioners and change makers to take their talents and energy into our communities and establish a tradition that supports people in “life focus” groups” that inspire the creation of an enlightened and greater sense of belonging to societies evolving awareness.

Electronic communications has opened to society a wide opportunity for the expansion of life focus into a communal force for relational connectedness. In a variety of applications of “life focus” we see a large range of purposes and a need for people to join together to focus on how they are living their lives.

At one extreme people are searching for the answers to ethereal unknowns, such as life after death, extrasensory communication, or foretelling the future: these pursuits inspire people to transcend familiar observational limits. At a more common level there is a clearer ground in direct observation. People at this level explore experiences: their fears, their guiding beliefs, their experiences of pleasure, adventure and dismay: their bodily sensations—the everyday happenings in people’s lives.

We also see this “life focus” integrated in the religions, poetry and novels that clarify personal themes such as love contradiction tragedy and survival. All of this is part of a human mission: to probe the nature of existence.

Sheryl says, “Probing the nature of existence sounds much like why I decided to write my second book, The Living Spirit: Answers for Healing and Infinite love to address the silent lonely moments of most people’s lives where they are unable to tap into, or know exactly why they made certain choices, or how to find love prosperity health and peace… Sheryl wrote….. “Many choose to believe it is life circumstances that are at the root of the destruction of so many fine plans, intentions and opportunities. I believe it is the perception of limitation and self-doubt not our circumstances which destroys dreams and thwarts wonderful Ideas……… “ What we focus our thoughts, time and energy on—whether knowingly or unknowingly, whether positively or negatively, whether lovingly or hatefully—sets up a ripple of interaction with other people, places and events that ultimately brings these possibilities into reality…The Universal energetic forces of life are there for us to access, but our life choices and actions, not God, actually create our inner and outer experiences.”

Part of the message of Beyond Therapy is that choices are daring declarations that we are masters of our own fate. As we known choices affect our lives and now more than ever our society prides itself on self-determination and as Jean-Paul Sartre said…We are our choice. J.K. Rowling said “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words: it is expressed in the choices one makes.”
Dr. Polster goes on to say that, “Never can we be aware of all that is going on; our attention skills are overmatched by the continual input from an irrepressible flood of happenings. We can live very well with that fluid process,
