How to Prepare for Advent and Christmas Without Feeling Overwhelmed | Planning for Catholic Moms

The holiday season can be a beautiful time of year, but between family activities, Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas preparations, workouts, meal planning, and everyday responsibilities, it’s easy for Catholic moms to feel overwhelmed and burned out. So how can we prepare for the holidays in a way that allows us to enjoy the season, prioritize our faith, and care for our families without trying to do it all?

In this episode of the Healthy Catholic Moms Podcast, Brittany Pearson shares practical tips for planning ahead for November, Advent, and Christmas so you can approach the busy holiday season with greater peace, joy, and intentionality. Instead of simply trying to survive the next two months, you’ll learn how to be proactive, create margin in your schedule, and focus on what truly matters for you and your family.

We’ll talk about how to prioritize prayer and Scripture, make realistic fitness goals, simplify healthy meal planning, and prepare for Advent without adding unnecessary stress. Brittany also shares why asking for help, delegating responsibilities, and letting go of perfection can make such a difference during busy seasons of motherhood.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • How to plan ahead for November, Advent, and Christmas as a busy Catholic mom.
    • Why creating margin in your schedule is essential for a more peaceful holiday season.
    • How to prioritize prayer, Scripture, and time with God when life feels overwhelming.
    • Why you don't have to do every Advent tradition to prepare your heart and family for Christmas.
    • How to set realistic fitness goals and stay consistent with strength training during the holidays.
    • Why three workouts a week can be a great goal during a busy season.
    • How to simplify healthy meal planning with easy dinners, leftovers, and convenient foods.
    • Why progress is better than perfection when it comes to nutrition and exercise.
    • How to decide which holiday traditions truly matter to your family.
    • Why asking for help and delegating responsibilities can help you serve your family with greater joy.

As Catholic women, we're called to steward our bodies well and serve our families with love, but that doesn't mean we have to do everything. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is simplify our schedules, lower unrealistic expectations, and make room for prayer, rest, and meaningful time with the people we love.

Whether you're trying to maintain healthy habits, make time for strength training, prepare for Advent, or simply feel less frazzled during the holiday season, this episode will encourage you to plan realistically and focus on what matters most.

Remember: You don't have to fit everything in to have a beautiful and meaningful holiday season.

Podcast Episode: The Power of Gratitude: How Thankfulness Can Transform Your Life as a Catholic Mom

What if practicing gratitude could help you feel more content, reduce stress, and bring more joy to your everyday life as a Catholic mom? In this episode of the Healthy Catholic Moms Podcast, Brittany Pearson explores the power of gratitude, the connection between thankfulness and contentment, and practical ways to cultivate a more positive mindset rooted in faith.

As Catholic moms, it can be easy to focus on what isn't going well. Between caring for our families, managing our homes, homeschooling, and trying to keep up with the demands of daily life, we can quickly fall into comparison, frustration, and the feeling that everyone else has it better. But what if we intentionally shifted our focus toward the blessings God has already given us?

Brittany dives into research exploring the potential benefits of gratitude for physical health, mental health, stress management, sleep, and emotional resilience. She discusses a study highlighted by Harvard Health that found an association between higher gratitude scores and a lower risk of death among older women. She also shares insights into how gratitude may influence our brains, strengthen relationships, and help us respond to life's challenges with greater peace and perspective.

Most importantly, this episode offers practical ways to make gratitude part of your daily routine as a Catholic woman. You don't need an elaborate journaling routine or hours of extra time. Small, intentional habits can help you cultivate thankfulness and grow in contentment throughout your day.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • How gratitude and contentment are connected.
    • What research suggests about gratitude and physical health.
    • How practicing thankfulness may support mental health, stress management, and better sleep.
    • Why choosing gratitude matters even when life feels difficult.
    • How to incorporate prayers of thanksgiving into your Catholic prayer life.
    • Simple ways to practice gratitude with your children and family.
    • How to use a gratitude journal or share thankfulness around the dinner table.
    • Why focusing on your blessings can help you resist comparison and the pressure to always want more.

You don't have to pretend everything is perfect to live with gratitude. Instead, you can acknowledge life's challenges while learning to recognize God's goodness in the middle of them.

If you're looking for practical ways to grow in faith, find contentment in motherhood, and develop habits that support a more joyful Christian life, this episode is for you!

  • Let’s talk TIME MANAGEMENT- an Essential Skill for Busy Catholic Moms!

Do you ever feel like there’s never enough time in the day to get everything done? Between caring for your family, managing your home, making time for prayer, and trying to take care of yourself, it can feel like you’re constantly rushing from one thing to the next.

In this episode of the Healthy Catholic Moms Podcast, Brittany Pearson shares her biggest takeaways from Redeeming Your Time by Jordan Raynor, a book that offers a refreshing, Christ-centered approach to time management and productivity. Rather than trying to squeeze every last minute out of your day, what if you approached your time as a gift from God to be stewarded well?

As Catholic moms, we have beautiful and important vocations, but that doesn’t mean we’re called to do everything. Brittany discusses how biblical principles for managing your time can help you prioritize what matters most, make room for prayer, set healthy boundaries, and find more peace in your everyday responsibilities.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • How to approach time management through a biblical, Christ-centered lens
    • Why starting your day with God matters—and how to make prayer work in different seasons of motherhood
    • How to say no to good things so you can say yes to what matters most
    • Why you don’t have to fit every activity, tradition, or commitment into your family’s schedule
    • How to reduce noise and distractions so you can focus on what God has put in front of you
    • Why accepting that you can only do one thing at a time can bring more peace to your home
    • How to incorporate productive breaks and rest without feeling like you’re wasting time
    • Why faithful stewardship of your time matters more than simply getting more done

Brittany also shares honest reflections on applying these principles as a busy mom, including the reality that what works in one season of motherhood may not work in another. Because we aren’t machines, and we aren’t God! We have limits, and learning to work within those limits is part of living our vocations well.

If you’re looking for practical time-management tips for Catholic moms, a more peaceful daily routine, or encouragement to stop trying to do it all, this episode is for you.

Your time is a gift. Let’s learn to use it well so we can serve our families, grow in holiness, and live our vocations with greater joy.

  • Enjoying the COZY Season Without the Constant Snacking!

Do you find yourself constantly snacking during fall and winter? 🍂 If cozy season has you reaching for chips, chocolate, and treats throughout the day, you're not alone! In this episode of the Healthy Catholic Moms Podcast, we're talking about how to enjoy fall comfort foods, stop mindless snacking, and build healthy eating habits without feeling restricted or guilty about food.

As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, it's natural to crave cozy evenings, comforting foods, and little treats throughout the day. But if you're trying to lose fat, maintain a healthy weight, or simply feel better in your body, constant snacking can make it harder to reach your goals. The good news? You don't have to give up your favorite fall snacks or stop enjoying cozy season!

I'm sharing practical nutrition tips to help you feel satisfied after meals, manage cravings, and create a healthier relationship with food. We'll talk about why eating balanced, filling meals is often the first step to reducing constant snacking, how to choose satisfying snacks, and how your daily routines and environment can influence your eating habits.

As a Catholic mom, you have plenty on your plate already. You don't need restrictive diets, complicated meal plans, or rules that take all the joy out of eating. Instead, let's focus on simple, sustainable nutrition habits that help you nourish your body, enjoy your favorite foods, and care for your health while living out your vocation.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why you may be constantly snacking during fall and winter
    • How to stop mindless snacking by eating balanced, satisfying meals
    • What to include in a balanced meal: protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and vegetables
    • How to build meals that support your energy, fullness, and fitness goals
    • Easy, satisfying snack ideas for cozy evenings and family movie or football nights
    • How to enjoy chocolate, nachos, and other favorite snacks without food guilt
    • Why your habits, routines, and environment can trigger cravings
    • How to break the habit of automatically reaching for snacks at certain times of day
    • Simple ways to replace mindless snacking with other relaxing activities
    • How to plan ahead with nourishing meals and snacks during busy seasons
    • Why you don't need to demonize food or eliminate every treat to make progress with fat loss
    • How to enjoy cozy season while continuing to prioritize your health

The biggest takeaway? Instead of focusing on how to stop snacking, start by asking whether you're eating enough satisfying, balanced meals. Keep nourishing foods and snacks you enjoy on hand, notice the routines that trigger mindless eating, and find simple ways to change those habits when needed.

You can enjoy cozy evenings, seasonal treats, and your favorite comfort foods while still making progress toward your health and fitness goals. Healthy eating doesn't have to mean restriction, and taking care of your body doesn't mean sucking the fun out of food!

Tune in for realistic nutrition advice, practical healthy eating tips, and encouragement to build sustainable habits that fit your life as a busy Catholic mom.

    • How to create simple meal routines without spending hours in the kitchen
    • Realistic ways to stay active and consistent with your workouts
    • How to adjust your fitness routine when fall and winter make mornings harder
    • Why rest, flexibility, and realistic expectations matter
    • How to work with the changing seasons instead of constantly fighting against them
    • How to care for your body while living out your vocation as a Catholic wife and mom

You don't have to do everything at once to build a healthier life. Start by identifying what matters most in this season, choose a few habits that support those priorities, and give yourself permission to let go of the things that don't need your attention right now.

As Catholic moms, we want to nourish our bodies, strengthen our faith, and care for our families while remaining faithful to the vocations God has given us. Let's make this fall a season of intentional living, sustainable healthy habits, and greater peace in our daily routines.
