So tell me, what is the difference between being single during the holiday and being single any other time of the year?
You are not a leper, pitiful, less-than, or an old maid. You are who you are…right now…for such a time as this!
You’re single, period. You don’t have an interminable disease, but you do have to stop looking at other people’s lives and comparing them to yours. Remember, things are not always the way they seem. Not every smiling couple is happy. Truth be told, some married couples wish they were single.
Just think…as long as you dread being single…that will be what’s foremost on your mind. Don’t confuse being single with being lonely. You can be happily single and still have a fabulous social life. So as long as you go around sadly Single, you’re wasting valuable time. Get the most out of being single, explore yourself, learn new skills, and meet different people. Stop wasting time because time is precious. What if you get to the end of your life and have wasted all of the gifts God has given YOU? The people’s lives you were meant to touch won’t get what only YOU can give them.

Are you going through a self-inflicted trial or challenge? It’s hard to believe but, God, in His sovereignty, permitted that exact situation to happen. He didn’t cause the problem, but He did allow it to happen. There is a difference. He didn’t allow it to happen to punish you because He’s a God of love. If your situation was due to a choice you made, God can take the pain and turn it into gain. A gain for you that you can grow and learn from and He will get to glory.
Did someone do something to you? God can even take those broken pieces and work them together for your good.
This morning I asked the Lord what I could share with the world and PEACE came to mind. Not just any peace, but God’s peace. God’s peace is permanent and secure. In John 14:27 it says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

God will give you wisdom –James 1:5 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. This is one of my favorite scriptures.
When you trust in God with all your heart, it means that you leave no room for doubt. You believe what He says because you know He is always right and will never deceive you. God sees the bigger picture and therefore knows what lies ahead of you and what you don't see.
What will you ask God for?

Today’s promise comes from Isaiah 43:10-12
Isaiah-43-10 CEV My people, you are my witnesses and my chosen servant. I want you to know me, to trust me, and understand that I alone am God. I have always been God; there can be no others.
(11) I alone am the LORD; only I can rescue you.
(12) I promised to save you, and I kept my promise. You are my witnesses that no other god did this. I, the LORD, have spoken.
Apart from a small remnant who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, Israel is still in unbelief. Though many have returned Jerusalem, many remain scattered across the earth - in unbelief. But in His grace, God rehearsed His promises to His people Israel through the lips of Isaiah the prophet... and His Word is unbreakable. God’s is not a man that He would lie or the son of man that He should repent.
“My people, you are my witnesses and my chosen servant. I want you to know me, to trust me, and understand that I alone am God. I have always been God; there can be no others.
(11) I alone am the LORD; only I can rescue you.
(12) I promised to save you, and I kept my promise. You are my witnesses that no other god did this. I, the LORD, have spoken.”

What is a Promise?
A promise is an assurance that a particular thing will happen. The promises of God in the Bible are just that. He gives us promises that we can stand on.
Today’s promise comes from Psalm 34:11
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord Martin Luther is said to have said, “I fear God because God can squash me; I love God because God does not.” Fearing the Lord means to be in reverent awe of His holiness. To honor Him as the God of great glory, majesty, purity and power. Consider the amazing power that He continues to exercise over his creation–including humankind. How he keeps the sun from coming too close to the earth. How he keeps the oceans at bay. How our body parts work in conjunction with each other. Childbirth.

For today’s lesson, I’m going to do something different. I’m going to read the entire chapter of Romans 1. When I was reading it this morning, I was getting excited and just had to share it with you. Listen closely because I would love for you to pick out how many of God’s Promises you can find throughout this eye-opening chapter. If you’re a Bible reader, you’ve probably read it before, but listen, as many times as it takes to pull out all of the awe-inspiring promises of God that you can claim for yourself. Ready?

Have you heard the idiom, “Fly on the wall?” It means to be able to secretly hear and observe something. I don’t know about you, but I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the Upper Room discourse when Jesus was talking to His disciples. He told them in John 14:2…I go to prepare a place for you. What did Jesus mean?
