This week, we’re discussing worry. What exactly is worry? Worrying is feeling uneasy or being overly concerned about a situation or problem. How much is worry costing you? You could look at it two ways. It could cost you zero dollars, or your entire life. So, which one do you choose? When I began my research for this topic, I was worried. For real, though, being the detail-oriented person I am, I dug deep. So, this may end up being 2 episodes. So, here we go.

Self-love involves the ability to consistently treat ourselves with understanding, kindness, patience, and gentle perseverance… having a high regard for your own well-being. “Self-love is important to living well. It influences who you pick for a mate, the image you project at work, and how you cope with the problems in your life.” Deborah Khoshaba Psy.D.

Have you, like me, found yourself in left field concerning your expectations of a man when he says he’s a Christian? I know I’m not the only one with a skewed sense of what a Christian man is. Putting aside the fact that we are all flawed humans, I thought a Christian man would be patient and kind. That he’d be considerate and not pushy, exhorting his own greatness.

When reality sets in, it really hurts and I’m talkin’ from experience. Your head pounds and you get lightheaded. Your stomach churns like you are experiencing food poison. Your heart drops down into your stomach and you feel that warm wash come over your body. The moment of truth has been revealed…reality has begun to settle into your soul…into your bones. You feel hot one moment and cold the next. It feels like the end of your world. There is no turning back and what happened can’t be changed. This is real. It can’t be taken back or made to get better. It’s over. It’s happened.

Every day people are dying at alarming rates. I mean, alarming rates. Some suffer for a while, others commit suicide, and still others pass unexpectedly. If you were to die unexpectedly where would you spend eternity? Would you go to heaven or hell? Both are real places. If you had the choice I’m sure you would choose heaven and the way to go to heaven is to be assured of your salvation, which simply put, is knowing for sure that you are saved. Are you sure about your salvation? Can you even be sure?

Marriage can be lonely for various reasons. But when you’re married to a narcissist the loneliness is pervasively massive and emotionally draining. It’s like loneliness on steroids. When you’re unconnected to your spouse the world can be a lonely place. When the one you love abandons you emotionally it can feel like your heart is breaking into many small pieces because you are, in effect, alone. Today’s guest experienced this. Even though there were 2 people in the marriage, it felt like she was alone. The quality of her relationship was not where she needed it to be and that was because narcissist do not bring quality to any relationship let alone marriage because they can’t. Her needs and desires did not matter because her husband’s needs were much more important than hers. In the words of Frank Salvato, “Love doesn’t die a natural death. Love has to be killed, either by neglect or narcissism.”

Today I continue my conversation with a young lady who has experienced being married to a narcissist which gave her insight into something that her brother would go on to experience in his marriage. When we left off, I asked her if her brother’s wife had tried to hoover her way back in after they’d split…stay tuned.

In our last episode we left off with the question, will the narcissist change? Today is the continuation of that enlightening conversation. Do you have hope that he’ll change? That you’ll become an important part of his life? That you can ever trust the narcissist or hear a heartfelt I’m sorry? Can someone who lives to control, distance, and rule over the other person in their relationship repent and turn from their domineering ways? In my experience, a true narcissist is unlikely to become an empathic and selfless individual. But what does my guest have to say
