HEAR Journaling  Proverbs Chapter 7

The Book of Wisdom

Highlight - Proverbs 7:1-5; 24-26 New Living Translation

Another Warning about Immoral Women

7 Follow my advice, my son;  always treasure my commands.

2 Obey my commands and live! Guard my instructions as you guard your own eyes.[a]

3 Tie them on your fingers as a reminder.  Write them deep within your heart.

4 Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family.

5 Let them protect you from an affair with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman.

…

24 So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words.
25 Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.
26 For she has been the ruin of many; many men have been her victims.

Explain – Solomon again warns against seducing forces that attempt to lead a person to destruction.  He encourages people to seek God’s wisdom, and guard their hearts from a path to certain destruction.

Apply – God made a way for believers in Jesus Christ, the filling of the Holy Spirit that when we faithfully and obediently follow Him we will be guarded from the forces that would lead us to certain destruction.

Respond – Lord, thank you for making a way for us to avoid certain destruction.  I willingly, faithfully, and obediently follow You.

HEAR Journaling  Proverbs Chapter 6

The Book of Wisdom

HEAR Journaling - Friday - Proverbs 6

Highlight - Proverbs 6:16-19 New Living Translation

16 There are six things the Lord hates—    no, seven things he detests:17 haughty eyes,    a lying tongue,    hands that kill the innocent,18 a heart that plots evil,    feet that race to do wrong,19 a false witness who pours out lies,    a person who sows discord in a family.

Explain – Solomon lists seven thangs that the Lord hates: 1) haughty eyes, 2) lying tongue 3) hand that kill the innocent 4) a heart that plots evil, 5) feet that race to do wrong, 6) a false witness pouring out lies, 7) a person that sows discord.

Apply – These are actions that are born out of a heart that has not accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, that is not abiding in the Holy Spirit, being led and controlled by Him.  Modern interpretation of these are:

1)     haughty eyes – pride of self over God and others

2)     lying tongue – lying to God, self, and others

3)     hand that kills the innocent – evil nature to kill begins with hatred

4)     a heart that plots evil – evil nature to plot evil things

5)     feet that race to do wrong – willingness to be involved with wrong things

6)     a false witness pouring out lies – lying to God, self, and others

7)     a person that sows discord – purposely causing division and confusion

This are traits that can be overcome by, repenting to Jesus, accepting Him as our personal Lord and Savior, being continually filled and obediently and faithfully following the Holy Spirit so as not to fulfil worldly temptations, but to live in His joy and peace, productively and effectively until He calls us home.

Respond - Lord, here am I, I trust You and submit my will to You.  I strive to abide in You and faithfully and obediently follow You.

HEAR Journaling  Proverbs Chapter 5

The Book of Wisdom

HEAR Journaling - Thursday - Proverbs 5

Highlight - Proverbs 5: 21-23 New Living Translation

Avoid Immoral Women

1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom;    listen carefully to my wise counsel.
2 Then you will show discernment,
and your lips will express what you’ve learned.
3 For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey,
and her mouth is smoother than oil.
4 But in the end she is as bitter as poison,    as dangerous as a double-edged sword

….

21 For the Lord sees clearly what a man does,    examining every path he takes.22 An evil man is held captive by his own sins;    they are ropes that catch and hold him.23 He will die for lack of self-control;    he will be lost because of his great foolishness.

Explain – Solomon cautions men to be wary of immoral women, that the temptation will not be worth the price.  There are no secrets from God, He knows everything we think, say, or do.  People can perish due to their foolishness, their lack of self-control.

Apply – All people are tempted by the cravings of this world.  There are no secrets from God, He knows everything we think, say, or do.  Better to be filled and led by the Holy Spirit who will lead us unto all Truth and keep us sheltered from destruction.

15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2 New Living Translation

Respond – Lord, here am I, I trust You and submit my will to You.  I strive to abide in You and faithfully and obediently follow You.

Hear2See Podcast Season 1, Episode 5 HEAR Journaling Proverbs Chapter 4

 The Book of Wisdom

HEAR Journaling - Wednesday - Proverbs Chapter 4

Highlight - Proverbs 4:14-19 New Living Translation

14 Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.15 Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving.16 For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day.    They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble.17 They eat the food of wickedness  and drink the wine of violence!

18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.19 But the way of the wicked is like total darkness.  They have no idea what they are stumbling over.

Explain – Solomon warns the reader not to do as the wicked do, not even to think about evil deeds.  He advises to turn away and keep moving in a Godly life.  The way of the righteous is like dawn where evil is like total darkness.

Apply – Very good advice.  Adam and Eve succumbed to their temptation because they had lost their focus on their relationship with the Lord.  They allowed their minds to focus on wicked things contrary to God’s will.  When we maintain our active relationship with the Lord, obediently and faithfully follow the Holy Spirit, He will not lead us to sin.

Respond – Lord, thank You for this wisdom that will lead to my life, help me to effectively apply Your wisdom, knowledge, understanding, instruction, and revelation to be all that I can be in You.

Hear2See Podcast Season 1 Episode 5 2023-06-02

HEAR Journaling -  Mark Chapter 1

Highlight - Mark 1 New Living Translation

[The Miracles in Mark 1]

Jesus Casts Out an Evil Spirit

21 Jesus and his companions went to the town of Capernaum. When the Sabbath day came, he went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority—quite unlike the teachers of religious law. 23 Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil[h] spirit cried out, 24 “Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” 25 But Jesus reprimanded him. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. 26 At that, the evil spirit screamed, threw the man into a convulsion, and then came out of him.

Jesus Heals Many People

Explain – The Gospel of Mark begins with a record of many healings of health issues and demon possessions which Jesus delt with quickly and effectively which made Him famous around the region as seen in verse 32 many can and gathered after sunset for healings and people watched.

Apply – We should not delay in seeking Jesus ourselves, He can and heal us and bless us with everything that we need.

Matthew 6:33 ESV But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Proverbs 8:17 ESV I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.

Matthew 7:7-8 ESV “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Respond – Lord, I strive to seek You daily, every moment of every day.  I thank You for Your salvation, for the life You have given me, and the purpose that You have placed in my heart.  I pray a double fold blessing for all my generations in Jesus Name.

Hear2See Podcast Season 1, Episode 4B – Bonus Episode - My Personal Story relating to Proverbs 3:5-6

Hear2See Podcast Season 1, Episode 4 HEAR Journaling Proverbs Chapter 3

HEAR Journaling - Proverbs Chapter 3

Highlight Proverbs 3:1-12 New Living Translation

Explain – There are several good points in Proverbs Chapter 3:

·       Remember the thing of the Lord that have been taught to live a satisfying life

·       Write loyalty and kindness deep in your heart to find favor with God and people

·       Trust in the Lord will all of your heart, don’t depend on your own understanding, seek Him in all things and He will show you the correct path

·       Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom, respect the Lord and turn away from evil to receive good health.

·       Honor the Lord with your wealth, the best part of everything produced to receive abundance.

·       Don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, a good father corrects His child.

Apply – These all apply to today, to each of us:

·       We should study the Word to show ourselves approved, remember what we have learned, and apply these truths in our daily lives to live a satisfying life.

·       We should be loyal to God, family, and friends showing the kindness that the Holy Spirit puts deep in our hearts to find favor with God and people.

·       We must trust in the Lord will all of our heart.  We must not rely on our own understanding.  We must seek Him in all things, what we think, say, and do so that we can follow the Holy Spirit as He shows us the correct path.

·       We must be humble, not relying with our own wisdom.  We must respect the Lord and turn away from evil to receive and maintain good health of mind, soul, and body.

·       We must honor the Lord with our funds, seeking His will in all we do to include the giving that He would have us do.  He will bless by providing opportunities and resources that we need for the calling that He has placed on us.

·       Don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, a good father corrects His child.  A good sports coach is always correcting and successful athletes listen and apply correction to the best of their ability.  We must do the same in our live with the Lord who only wants the best for us.

Respond - Lord thank You for these precious words of wisdom.  I strive to seek You consistently and continuously.  I know You will grant me wisdom, knowledge, understanding and instruction for a better life as I walk with honesty, integrity as You prepare and shield my path.  I know that I must faithfully and obediently follow You.
