  • 028 - Brooks Hollan: You Can't Coach on What You Haven't Overcome

Every single one of us has some story that we’re a victim to. For some of us, we believe that we lack financial status so we live in fear of the future. For others, we believe that we’re incapable of being loved therefore we struggle with relationships. Regardless of what story you keep telling yourself, you can change the course of your life. Once you take full responsibility and ownership over your past, only then are you able to change the story you’re telling yourself.

This week, I am talking with Brooks Hollan, Experienced Entrepreneur, and Investor, about what it means to do the heavy, internal work in order to live a life you are proud of.

Brooks has created two multiple 7-figure businesses working 'Behind the Scenes'.  Now he runs a coaching program called "Into The Light" where he helps people come out of hiding, step into their gifts, and share them with the world!  His style of performance coaching grew out of helping other entrepreneurs and business owners overcome the things that were keeping them stuck in business, and in life.

Brooks graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was a 2000 Olympic Trials qualifier in swimming. He lives in San Diego, California with his wife Natalie Jill, step-daughter Penelope, and Goldendoodle Flops!

Join us this week as we discuss how to shift our mindset on the things that we can control in order to change the story of our life. Brooks shares with us the life lessons that he has learned over the years and how he has overcome his victim mindset.  Topics Discussed:

    • Finding purpose and healing through the pain and suffering
    • Overcoming the victim mindset (and how to break through past hurt)
    • Learning how to focus on your internal well-being
    • How society creates fear that inhibits real internal work
    • Why life experiences create a strong level of awareness
    • Interrupting toxic thought patterns to find the things that fully serve you

  • 027 - Lesson #11: Don't Hire the Wrong Coach or Consultant....

Are you tired of hiring coaches that aren’t good at what they’re charging you to do? Have you recently had to let go of a consultant that wasn’t serving you or your business? This week, I am sharing Lesson #11 that I have learned in the Entrepreneurial space.

Don’t hire the wrong coach or consultant!

Too often individuals are getting screwed out of their pocketbook on false claims of building their network. If your coach or consultant isn’t trained well in what they do, it’s not worth the investment. Just like you wouldn’t hire a baseball coach for a football team, you wouldn’t hire a coach outside of your niche.

After countless coaches over the years, I have learned that the best coaches are the ones who aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty. It’s easy to say all the right things on a Facebook status or Instagram caption, but the real proof is in the results. In order to hire the RIGHT coach for you, look for those who have been exactly where you are.

    Topics Discussed:

    • Red flags and warning signs of a wrong coach or consultant
    • Learning to take necessary pauses in your business
    • Recognizing that not everyone is a fit
    • How to expand your Personal Development.

This week, I am talking with Bobby Wall, the Media Buying Expert, on how to bring “humanity” back into Digital Marketing.

  • 025 - Lesson #10: Marketing is Like a Casino....NOT

Sick of spending money for little to no payout? Tired of investing in strategies that no longer work? I get it. We’ve all been there. We’ve all thrown money at false marketing schemes in hopes of hitting the jackpot. But what if I told you that you didn’t have to treat marketing like a casino? What if there was a better way to build your business than unsafe bets?

This week, I am sharing with you Lesson #10 that I have learned in business. When you treat Marketing like a casino, you lose a lot more than the money you threw on the table. So many people believe that by placing all your bets into one slot machine, the payout is exponential.

But that’s NOT how Marketing works!

Marketing is more about building long-lasting relationships than chasing dollar signs. Instead of hoping to hit the jackpot, learn how to leverage those relationships for the long haul. Don’t let the bright lights and fancy card tricks blind you from investing in your future.

    Topics Discussed:

    • Why you don’t have to spend millions of dollars on Ad Spend to be successful
    • Focusing on backend systems & dialing in your business for a better ROI
    • The hard truth about treating marketing & relationships like casinos
    • Knowing when to increase your marketing efforts for your business

  • 024 - Joe DeMaria: Teach to Scale

Showing up as your most authentic self in your business doesn’t always sound “Sexy”. In a society that thrives off of get-rich-quick schemes, it’s no wonder why people are starving for ethical relationships now more than ever.

This week, I am continuing my conversation with Joe DeMaria, Owner of Teach to Scale, about leaning into Integrity despite uncomfortable situations. As we discuss why focusing solely on cash activities stifles your confidence, connection, and creativity, Joe drops major truth bombs along the way about what it means to become a bigger and better version of yourself.

The biggest takeaway from this episode?

Joe shares that, “The difference between surviving and not surviving is how capable you are of seeing the obstacle and not shying from it.”

Instead of always trying to circumvent the obstacles that show up in our lives and in our businesses, it’s when we face them head-on do we gain the most credibility and exponential growth. Leaders who are capable of pulling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty discover the deeper meaning behind success.

    Topics Discussed:

    • How “Think Time” increases our chances of success
    • Learning to find comfort in uncomfortable situations
    • Why shying away from obstacles hurts your Integrity
    • The importance of developing your own internal, stoic philosophy
    • Learning to say “No” to people’s perception of who you are
    • How to leverage your time more effectively

  • 023 - Lesson # 9: Leverage is Worth More Than $$$: Joe DeMaria

How do you define success? Is it a continuous cash flow? Large streams of income? Or is it something beyond a dollar amount? What if there was something larger in scale that carried more weight than gold? Our guest this week dispels the myth that wealth is more than commas in your bank account.

This week, I am speaking with Joe DeMaria, Owner of Teach to Scale, about leveraging relationships and why cash flow is a poor indicator of success. Being one of the most sought after course creation consultants, Joe helps coaches, consultants, and peak performers create online courses and group coaching programs to increase their transformative impact on their audiences, expand their product offerings, and create new pillars of revenue in their businesses. According to Joe Polish, "[Joe DeMaria is] … one of the top course creators on the planet and has unique talent with taking expertise and packaging it."

As Joe shares his personal journey of leveraging relationships, we discuss the importance of surrounding yourself with those levels above you. When you seek out mentors to help guide you, you begin to level up in more ways than the dollars in your pocket. True connections and long-lasting relationships go further than simple $1 for $1 transactions.

    Topics Discussed:

    • How to leverage relationships that benefit every one involved
    • Why seeking out cash only stifles your growth
    • What separates successful business owners from those who quit early
    • The lessons learned from hiring a powerful mentor

You wouldn’t show up on stage or in a formal business meeting, dressed to the nines and not say anything, would you? Of course not! So why do we focus so little on how we show up with our words in the online space?

  • 021- Lesson #8: Ripping the E-Brake

Some days you’ve just gotta rip the e-brake and take time for evaluation and self-reflection. Taking time to pause, sit back, and think about your current circumstances can be one of the most humbling experiences. When we recognize where we are, how far we have come, and where we are headed, we begin to see our own personal growth.

This week, I am sharing yet another lesson that I am currently learning and what it’s teaching me about my own personal growth. I am most content with where I am in business and how I show up in my relationships than I have been all year. And I have internal evaluation and self-reflection to thank for that. Clearing the necessary space has allowed me to seek the things that truly bring me the most joy. And I can’t wait to see what’s on the other side of all of this.

    Topics Discussed:

    • Why it’s important to hit pause, reflect, and evaluate
    • Knowing when to fire clients and step out of business relationships
    • Creating the space as an entrepreneur to grow and learn
    • Dealing with self-limiting beliefs and FOMO

Did you know that branding and marketing are not the same things? While they work in tandem with one another, they’re not synonymous. His secret?

Frank is not afraid to talk to strangers. When it comes down to building your network and strengthening your relationship with your clients, the key factor that most people miss is that they go out of their way to talk with strangers and are not afraid to embarrass themselves.
