A devastating fire destroyed much of Oshala Farm. Thankfully everyone is safe, but they've lost nearly everything they've built over the last 13 years. If you're able, please consider supporting their rebuilding efforts.

What if your garden could become a map for understanding both nature and yourself?
In this episode of The Herbalist Hour, I sit down with herbalist, astrologer and author Isaac Hill to discuss his fascinating new book, The Zodiac Garden.
We explore what a zodiac garden actually is, how astrology and gardening intersect, and why Isaac sees the garden as a living temple. We also dive into the spiritual side of gardening, humanity's role as a keystone species, common misconceptions about astrology, and how creating a zodiac garden can have a balancing effect on the psyche.
Whether you're already interested in astrology or completely new to it, I think you'll find this conversation both thought-provoking and surprisingly practical.
Isaac also shares several ways to design your own zodiac garden and offers some great advice for anyone looking to begin exploring astrology.
Thanks for tunin' in!
~Mason

Welcome to the "beverage portion" of the show! In this casual late-night clip from Herbalist After Hours, we are crackin' open a beautiful bottle of Chamomile Blue Cordial gifted by the incredibly talented Lindsey Feldpausch of Plant Matters.
Made with chamomile, butterfly pea flower, and lemon juice, this glowing purple blend completely blew us away with its perfectly balanced, deep, and spherical flavor.
We chat about what makes Lindsey one of the most phenomenal, "next-level" formulators in the community, her incredible work as a lead educator for the Herbal Academy, and why you absolutely need to jump on the chance to take one of her classes.

In this "show and tell" podcast clip, we dive into the sensory and alchemical world of distilling hydrosols. We discuss why giving a plant a name can sometimes cause us to stop listening to it, the difference between "living thinking" and "object thinking," and why more potent products like essential oils aren't always better or more sustainable than a simple cup of herbal tea. Plus, we share a few aromatic blends like Sweet Grass, Vetiver, and Lemon Balm, and discuss the immense dedication of independent American herb farmers.

In this clip from Herbalists After Hours, Erika Galentin explains why the hills surrounding Athens, Ohio, are one of the most botanically rich regions in the eastern United States. We discuss how ancient glaciers stopped at the edge of the Appalachian foothills, creating an incredible concentration of plant biodiversity.
The conversation also explores the region's history of coal and iron extraction, Erika's early days interning with United Plant Savers, and why this resilient, deeply rooted landscape has become the perfect place for her to live, work, and practice herbalism.

Today on The Herbalist Hour, I'm joined by Yasmeen Faraj, LCSW, CIMHP, therapist, herbalist, and founder of Kinda Crunchy Therapy and sMOOches Organics.
In this conversation, we explore the intersection of mental health and herbalism, including nature connection, community, burnout, intuition, sleep, nutrition, and the healing power of plants.
Yasmeen shares how she incorporates herbs into her therapy practice through plant walks, herbal tea, and sensory experiences, and we discuss what therapists and herbalists can learn from one another.
We also talk about Motherwort, Mugwort, ecstatic dance, inner child work, and what it means to follow a "full body yes."
I absolutely loved this conversation and know you will as well!

To celebrate HerbRally reaching 20,000 YouTube subscribers, Katja Swift and Ryn Midura from CommonWealth Holistic Herbalism joined us to answer 20 questions submitted by the HerbRally community.
Over the course of nearly four hours, they explore herbalism, clinical practice, stress, uncertainty, formulation, mentorship, learning, philosophy, and what it really means to become an herbalist.
What started as a simple Q&A turned into a thoughtful and wide-ranging discussion filled with practical insights and hard-earned wisdom.
A huge thank you to Katja and Ryn for their generosity, and thank you to everyone who has supported HerbRally over the years.

Enrollment for Herbal Dental Care closes tonight at midnight, so I wanted to record a quick episode sharing a few thoughts about why this course has me so excited.
This isn't just a course about herbs for teeth or gums. It's about understanding oral health through the lens of tissue states, constitutional patterns, inflammation, digestion, stress, mineral balance, and how the mouth reflects the whole body.
The course is taught by Kyle Denton, who spent 15 years in the dental field before becoming a clinical herbalist. The way he bridges those two worlds is unlike anything I've personally encountered in herbal education.
The live classes are held Thursdays at 6pm Central on:
Recordings will be available for anybody who can't attend live.
