Welcome to our 100th Enrollify Podcast episode (cue the confetti)! This is an extra special milestone for Enrollify, the place where enrollment marketers go to upskill, reskill, and discover new ideas, products, and services. In this episode, we put host Zach Busekrus in the hot seat and ask him all sorts of fascinating questions, from the top people who influence him to his favorite breakfast options.

A proud early adopter of Enrollify, Natalie is now a full-time member of the team working on Enrollify and its sister brands, mainly behind the scenes on marketing strategy, but is excited to (finally) go behind the mic.

In this episode, we pack in a recap of noteworthy marketing discoveries thus far, get inside our founder's head and hear more about HIS story, and get 100 random insights that may or may not help you grow, but will hopefully entertain you. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this one!

  • Episode #99: Students Are Your Best Marketers — How Community Marketing Works in Higher Ed

Every marketer knows the importance of word of mouth — people trust people more than people trust brands...plain and simple.

But, how do you get word of mouth to happen at scale? And how do you ensure that the words that people use to describe the experience your institutional brand offers aligns with the very way you want your brand to be perceived? Community marketing might just be the answer.

On this week’s episode, Zach sits down with Kyle Campbell, a Content Marketing Manager at Unibuddy, to discuss what community marketing is, why it matters for student recruitment, and which schools are slaying this new approach to prospect engagement.

To learn more about community marketing in higher ed, and get a plethora of examples of schools doing it well, subscribe to Unibuddy’s bimonthly newsletter,  The Chat.

  • Episode 98: The One Exercise Every Enrollment Marketer Should Do When Creating Their Comm Flows

Communication flows are the bread and butter of student recruitment in higher ed — and yet, admissions and marketing professionals alike struggle to make them compelling and differentiated.

On this week’s episode of The Enrollify Podcast, Zach sits down with Bryson Purcell, an Assistant Director of Admissions at Lock Haven University, and the Co-Founder of SuccessU (a student coaching service), to discuss the importance of designing a communications strategy focused on parents that acts in parallel with the drip sequences focused on prospective students.

Bryson shares specific strategies and tactics that he has used over the tenure of his career to increase response rates, boost prospect engagement, and ultimately convince students and their families to enroll.

  • Episode 97: Questions Every Higher Ed Marketer Should Be Asking Right Now

The new fiscal year has started and budgets are more or less set...but just because you’ve spent your marketing resources on a particular collection of vendors, strategies, tactics, and technology doesn't mean you have to do the same next year!

On this week's episode, Zach shares five questions that every higher ed marketer should ask themselves before they launch a single campaign this fall:

    1. Where are the keyword gaps in your competitor’s SEO strategy?
    2. How can you make your content more searchable?
    3. If a user had to complete a survey before they could “x” out of your website and describe their experience with your school in three adjectives, what do you hope those adjectives would be?
    4. If people are willing to take jobs having never stepped foot in an office or met their team physically, populations of students will feel the same way about college. What does this mean for recruitment?
    5. How do we win the quality lead game and stop playing the antiquated quantity lead game?

This week’s episode is brought to you by Element451. Have you heard the news? Element just launched a brand new certification course on Enrollment Analytics — and they are giving away scholarships to a few Enrollify subscribers! Apply before August 15th to qualify!

  • Fanatical Fridays Episode 41: Summer Sessions #5 — The Future of College and University Websites

On this week’s episode of Fanatical Fridays, Zach and Mickey continue their Summer Sessions series with a brainstorm on the future of college and university websites. Zach outlines a helpful framework for how to think about, audit, and augment the experience your website offers to mirror the experience of being on campus.

Furthermore, Zach shares predictions for what the future of college and university website experiences will offer. These predictions include:

    • Search will not be ancillary to navigation, search IS navigation
    • Video experiences and chat will be the rule, not the exception
    • Websites will become more “choose your own adventure” and less “pre-architected”
    • CMSes will be controlled by marketing not IT
    • Digital experience will see the kind of conversion rates that today’s on-campus events do of 40-50%….and we’ll see actual campus visits start converting at higher rates. If people are willing to take jobs having never stepped foot in an office or met their team physically, populations of students will feel the same way about college.

    • More about benchmark data and the 2021 Enrollment Marketing Benchmarks Report:
    • The research conducted for this report spanned a period of 12 months looking at hundreds of marketing campaigns that involved thousands of content pieces and prospect actions.
    • The vast majority of marketing tactics and channels were targeted to prospective graduate students roughly 18-50 years of age, across an extremely wide variety of demographics, psychographics, industries, professions, and education levels. The following statistics allow you to understand the breadth and depth of data we scoured that is the backbone of this report.
    • The way schools used to rely on physical, in-person recruitment events has dramatically changed over the past few years, but has been especially impacted since the start of the pandemic.
    • Grad school fairs are no longer the mass-recruitment lead source they once were, and schools have moved to hosting their own information sessions and open houses.
    • The biggest change in the last year is the predominance of virtual events as a result of the pandemic, which means we now have more data on virtual admissions-related events than ever before to analyze and identify the new benchmarks.
    • Before the pandemic, virtual events typically achieved 25-40% attendance rates out of registrants, but as you will see in the report, more students are signing up and attending recruitment events than ever before.
