For podcast #82 I finally got to connect up with Sean Dotson. We talk about a lot of things from human capital, vacations, HMIs, flexibility, innovation and ease of use of automation systems.
Sean Dotson, PE is President and founder of RND Automation.  A Florida native he received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida.  Sean has been in the industrial automation and robotics industry his entire career, founding RND in 2005.  In 2020 he sold RND Automation to a private equity firm and now serves as both RND’s president and CAS Holding’s CTO

TODAY we are going to talk about culture in hiring in the automation industry.
We all talk about culture. What elements make up a culture in a company?
How can you tell if a company has poor culture?
What is your process to make sure that you have a good cultural fit.
How important is culture in your company and in the industry? Very!
Do you have a code or written document?Do you hire for culture? What are the downsides to this? What do you do to drive (the) culture in the business?I would like to talk around innovation – What about innovation. In your business innovation is everything or not?Can you reward innovation?
Do you think that your customers recognize the company culture at RND and do you think that customers reward innovative companies?
When you are not building automation, what do you like to do?
