Deism is a natural religion where belief in God is based on application of reason and evidence observed in the designs and laws found in nature. Deists present deist apologetics that demonstrate the existence of God based on evidence and reason, absent divine revelation. Rationalism is a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response. In Philosophy it's the theory that reason rather than experience is the foundation of certainty in knowledge. In Theology it's the practice of treating reason as the ultimate authority in religion. STORY OF AMERICA — Present-day New England is a region comprising six states in the Northeastern United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. English plans to colonize this part of America began to take concrete form at the turn of the 17th century. The first expedition to set out from England was led by Bartholomew Gosnold (1571-1607), an English sea captain who led the first recorded European expedition to Cape Cod, Provincetown, Cuttyhunk Island, and Martha's Vineyard.
