Details emerging from New Orleans indicate the perpetrator acted alone in the 'horror' attack which saw him drive through a crowd of people celebrating New Years.
A Tesla blew up outside the Trump hotel in Las Vegas yesterday, killing one and injuring seven. It is now believed the explosion was purposeful and the driver has been identified as an active duty US army soldier.

A low to the east of the country and a high over the Tasman Sea direct a cool south-westerly flow across the nation.
Showers over the North Island and the upper South Island but a ridge of high pressure brings fine weather to the lower South Island.
Showers persist over the lower North Island but the remainder of the nation is mainly fine.

Senior Sergeant Lynn Fleming and her colleague Adam Ramsey were on foot patrol in the city centre when a car drove into them.
Fleming died from the attack and Ramsey was critically injured but is now in a stable condition.

Moana 2 has hit the cinemas.
