The urban dictionary's definition of Self made: when someone who acquires their wealth/success on their own and do not inherit or win it. It takes time and persistence to become successful and if you've put in the work then that's declared self made. In this episode, I had the pleasure of talking to my girl Yashica, who is a fellow Podcaster (and black woman!) for the first episode of Black History Month—talk about God's timing! One thing about my girl Yashica, she is going to speak her mind and speak it confidently! I know it’s going to be a good episode when I know the edits will be minimal because the conversation is so natural. Yashica and I talk about the complexities of being self-made, the beauty of it, and what it can look like. One thing for sure, and two things for certain: betting on yourself will always be a sure thing, do it. As always, there were many great gems dropped that I hope you were able to catch, and if nothing else, I hope you enjoyed the vibes!
“When you want the best for you, you gotta want the best for other people.”

Being a podcaster has sharpened my ability to public speak, however it never beats having someone also be a natural in-front of a mic to help make for a beautiful conversation. In this episode, I welcome my girl Ashton back and this time we talk intentionality which led us to the importance of the decisions we make. Life is unpredictable and we get one shot at it; we don't know half of what we should yet have to make important decisions from that information.
Be kind to yourself. Make intentional decisions.

THANK YOU in advance for bearing through the tech issues during this episode 🥲, One thing tech is gonna do, is tech when it wants to 😒!
What I will say is this was probably one of my calmest vibes recorded LOL and on this day Dara and I were both more mellow than our usual selves–that didn’t stop the show as you know ;) In this episode I got the pleasure of recording with one of my first friends I met in the Bay (if you want another glimpse into how I make my friends haha) and the focus was underestimation, being underestimated. We touched on what that can look like (representation!), and some ways that we can challenge that. Remember: alot of obstacles can stem from how we view the world.I hope a gem or two was captured in this episode for you, and if nothing else, the vibes were enjoyed!

I would be lying if I said I wasn't just a little anxious about posting this episode. Religion is a sensitive topic and I honestly never thought I'd do a religious topic on the HH podcast because I did have Church trauma. However, when the stars align and things kind of just work out; you trust the process. I had the pleasure of talking Church & God with one of my dearest friends, Jeremy. This is not your traditional take on Church & God which is exactly the way I wanted it to be. This conversation did some healing for me and I genuinely hope you all are able to take a gem or two, and if nothing else, enjoyed the vibes.
SN: I'm still me, so language is strong in this episode, please be advised. & due to the nature of the context, if anything requires clarity or you'd like to talk more, let me know!
Xoxo,
It’s tiiiimmmmeeeee (in my MC voice!) Season 8 is officially here! To start this season off, I wanted to just talk with ya’ll, catch you up on some things and thoughts of mine, nothing too crazy. This season I have some great topics outlined and can’t wait to get the right people to speak on them. I can’t thank YOU enough for your support of the HonestlyHelen Podcast whether it be a listen or a share; I appreciate YOU seeing the value in my voice, my thoughts, and those of my guests. Don’t ever forget the power YOU have to make an impact on someone’s life just by being YOU.

& this episode wraps up another HonestlyHelen Season, Blagicals! During this season, life has been so full of growth opportunities for me that I can only feel Blessed, Grateful, Loved, Challenged, all of it! On this episode, I talk about Secret Sauce and how that looks for me professionally and personally. It's up to YOU, to show up for YOU, and more importantly, up to YOU, to show up authentically. I hope you were able to grab a couple gems from this episode, and if nothing else, enjoyed the good vibes! Until next Season, my Blagical family!

Go where you are celebrated, loved, and supported.
Happy Julyteenth! 🖤❤️💛😌
Here we are again with the Birthday Twin, Jay! Jay is one of my guests who has been on the HH podcast the most because he has always been a supporter of the HH movement, so genuinely, thank you Jay, for being such a steady and honest supporter. The beauty of having a podcast that isn’t confined to a conversation agenda will always be appreciating the fluidity of conversation. In this episode we talk ‘growing up;’ how our mindsets change as we age, as we get new information about how that impacts our decision making. We touched on so much in this episode (while having a fun time!) and Jay said it so well – “givers have to set limits because takers don’t have any” – that can apply to so many things in life as it pertains to growth. There were so many good gems dropped in this episode that I hope you are able to grab a few, and if nothing else, enjoy the good vibes!

Happy Juneteenth! 🤎🖤💚💛❤️.
"Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom under the Emancipation Proclamation, more than two years after it was issued."
You are loved. You are special. You are Blagical.
On the last day of May, I HAD to make sure I got this episode published before the month ended. May is mental health awareness month and y'all know how sometimes, things just align? Well this topic and this guest, was just that. I had the pleasure of talking about Mental Health with Hir, who is an amazingly fierce woman that has helped herself and has a heart of gold! In this episode we take a non-traditional journey of what mental health looks like through our own experiences. I enjoyed not only being able to learn more about Hir as a person, but also as a therapist and cannot be more grateful for it. I hope you were able to pick up a gem or two and if nothing else, enjoyed the good vibes!

Another one in the books! And listen, remind me not to use my headphones to record again because my audio I sound far away and not at the same time, yet I had my headphones on? HOWEVER, the audio is still there so we're gonna keep it moving. This was such a good conversation and I think with the best person to talk to about it. On this episode, I had the pleasure of FINALLY recording with my cousin, The Artist, The Producer, The Man, The Myth, The Legend: Lano Keys or as the family knows him: Djuan! We talk about Balancing Life and the ins and outs of what that looks like. Being an adult includes balancing all things that make up your life: family, hobbies, career, etc., while also being able to take care of yourself. We talked about priorities, finding yourself, effective communication, and more and the impact it has on the way we balance life. So, so many gems were dropped during this episode that I genuinely hope you caught all of them, however, if nothing else, I hope you enjoyed the good vibes!
