Guest: Forrest Muelrath

Art should disrupt the symbolic order. That's why this case is so interesting, according to Forrest Muelrath, a New York art critic and writer. Both Michel Houellebecq in his novels and KIRAC in their films are, in their own ways, engaged in this disruption of order. This disruption in itself serves a higher purpose, as all great art does - or should do. Therefore, it is relevant to look at this Mexican standoff between these two manipulative forces in terms of storytelling and how they both try to bend the narrative to their advantage.

In this special series I want to report on the lawsuit between Michel Houellebecq on one side and KIRAC, or Keeping It Real Art Critics, on the other side. Leading up to the judge's verdict in about four weeks, I want to talk to various directly involved parties, in the lawsuit and in the making process of Kirac's film, the film about Houellebecq, the film that Houellebecq wants to ban.
