    Publisher's Summary:
Things are hotting up in this latest thriller from best-selling author Felix Francis, in his fifth solo novel Front Runner.
Jefferson Hinkley is back. In his role as an undercover investigator for the British Horseracing Authority, Jeff is approached by the multi-time champion jockey, Dave Swinton, to discuss the delicate matter of losing races on purpose. Little does Jeff realise that the call would result in an attempt on his life, locked in a sauna with the temperature well above boiling point.
Dave Swinton is then found dead, burnt beyond recognition in his car at a deserted beauty spot. The police think it's a suicide but Jeff is not so sure. He starts to investigate the possible races that Swinton could have intentionally lost but discovers instead that others are out to prevent him from doing so, at any cost.

As good as his father was
A very good story and great ending , the story teller was also well chosen and kept the story tense in a good way
    Not a classic...
I really struggled to finish this book which is unusual as far as Dick/Felix Francis books go. The main protagonist wasn't very likable and he did ridiculous things considering he was supposed to be an investigator, I found my self thinking 'don't do that' on a number of occasions. I didn't like the narration either, far too pompous.
    A Good Storyline.
I thought Peter Darwin & Annabel Would have Had A Bigger Role as he Had a Whole Book to himself when Dick F Was Alive.
Come on You Can Do Better If You Are Going to Use your Dads Old Characters. Give them a Bigger Role.
Not a patch on Dick Francis
What disappointed you about Front Runner?
I very quickly became bored with this book. Too much unnecessary information about nothing in particular. Whenever something untoward happened to Mr Hinkley it wasn't rocket science to work out roughly what it would be, or how he would extradite himself.
What will your next listen be?
Tomb In Turkey by Simon Brett
Have you listened to any of Martin Jarviss other performances? How does this one compare?
Yes, adequate, but not as good as I know he can be.
You didnt love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
At least we didn't have two and a half hours where Mr Hinkley knew something we didn't, as in his previous book.
    Any additional comments?
Sorry, but compared to his father, Felix just doesn't cut it for me.
    A First class winner
Top class from start to finish ,the delivery was excellent.I'm just about to start my next "Francis" audio book.

fast moving book with action/suspence, and romance
This was a fast moving, action/suspense packed book. I also loved that it was equal parts romance.
The book starts out with Dr. Sky Baang being kidnapped by Russian mercenary's. She was able to escape with the help of special agent Vin Fitzgerald, and his team. Sky is a genius, for she attended university at the tender age of 10. She was kidnapped at age 6 by the Chinese government to be used as a tool. Now she works for the U.S. Government on a top secret project as a scientist. Her parents gave up everything including their life, to keep Sky safe, now she feels it is her duty to give back, and honor their memory. She only has time in her life for her work. She is book smart, but with her work, and studies, she has very little real world experiences, and has only had the opportunity to spend time with other super smart, lab wearing scientist.
Vincent is assigned to protect Sky. For the first time in her life she noticed a man's muscles. No one she has worked with looked like Vincent. She was immediately drawn to him. Vincent is drawn to the sexy scientist. He enjoys her random facts. When Sky feels uncomfortable she has a tendency to throw out random facts. It is a relief to find another person that she can talk to, and that understands her.
This was a fun book, with action, and suspense. Vincent knows that Sky is not just another job. He will do anything to protect her, and keep her safe, including stepping in front of a bullet. Will Vince and his team find out why the Russians are attempting to kidnap Sky, and will they be able to protect her?
    good action great romance
I love it when the heroine is just as smart as the hero! Very romantic but they also dealt with real issues of cultural diversity in relationships. Sometimes love comes from a different directions and we have to decide if we're going to trust our love or do what our family thinks is best for us.
    Score!
This is a winner. Loved superman and sky. Great story line with a different twist than most military romances. Read it.
I enjoyed the non-complicated plot and overall
I found this to be very well written. I enjoyed the non-complicated plot and overall, the series is well written.

    Could be good
This book is very repetitive and there is no need nor tie in for the cat reference through out the book. The references were distracting and between that and repeating prior parts of the book made it confusing.

    Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense
    Publisher's Summary:
There is a secret from our history - 500 years old - startling in its revelations and devastating in its political impact. A secret that has, thankfully, stayed hidden. Until now.
Former Justice Department agent Cotton Malone travels to England and finds himself caught in a dark conspiracy born long ago, in the time of the Tudors.
Now both the CIA and MI6 seem to be competing to uncover the mystery, and for Malone, supposedly on holiday with his son, Gary, it's not just the action which comes thick and fast.
When Gary disappears, Malone is forced into a race against time, as he battles to decipher a puzzle that leads him from the Middle Temple to the chapel at Windsor Castle, from an Oxford college to the sewers beneath Hampton Court.
With assassins, traitors, spies, and dangerous disciples of a secret society closing in, Malone discovers that the solution to the mystery will not only draw him into a lethal trap but force him closer to his own troubling past. And a shocking revelation.
    Members Reviews:
OK story, very annoying reader if you're British!
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
The narrator is obviously American and trying, and failing, to do various English accents! Its also very annoying to have various american terms used when describing places in England; for example, they are pavements NOT sidewalks when you're in the UK!
    Another fantastic Malone adventure....
Another superb tale from Steve Berry. Interestingly, Cotton Malone takes more of a back seat in comparison to precious adventures, and some new characters come to the fore. Still, Malone still produces the goods when required.
The Cotton Malone series really is first class. The Kings Deception can be enjoyed standalone, however you'll get much more from Steve Berry's work if you listen to the series in order.
The Kings Deception is a great insight into the history of the British Monarchy, and really emphasises the regality and magnificence of various historical venues. If, like me, you have an interest in British history, then this really is a worthwhile listen.
Steve Berry is an absolute master at the James Bond / Dan Brown mix, and this is up there with his best. Once again, Scott Brick delivers a flawless performance, and in my opinion is the most complete narrator that I've listened to thus far.
Again if, like me, you were/are unsure whether you'd enjoy Berry's work after listening to Dan Brown, then I can categorically guarantee that you'll love the Cotton Malone series. It really is up there with the best.
One of the better Malone stories.
This was definitely one of the better stories in the Malone series. The story unfolds at a good pace and all the clues aren't given away in the first few chapters, as Steve Berry has a tendency to do. The back story to this fiction is interesting too. I'm British and I didn't know about the Queen Elizabeth folk tales. Well worth the read.

    Surprised
    I really enjoyed it.
    Well read. Good pace.
I don't like reviews that tell me the whole story, so just to say, it was good, not superb but worth a listen. Gentle suspense. Intriguing and therefore it captured my interest.
    Overall OK
I found it difficult to accept that Grace would act as she did in many ways.
The story was ok, certainly worth a listen, but stretching one's imagination and belief
J Kellerman not up to form with this one
Sorry to disagree with the majority of reviews but I had several gripes about this book.
Characterisation : Wish I had a penny for each glowing description of Grace - clever, beautiful, fit, clever, resourceful, stylish, clever ad nauseam. Most of the other characters were presented only in how they reacted to Grace's copious attributes.
Plot : To avoid spoilers I'll just say that my disbelief can be suspended only so far.
Pace : Erratic. It started fine, but slowed down and down only to break into a breakneck bolt for the finale.
Reader : I personally find the breathy, super-feminine qualities of this reader's voice irritating. Others may not.
    Brilliant
Complex and gripping story. So good that it made me miss the train, I just couldnt turn it off!
    Enjoyable
The story is enjoyable, the plot is quite convoluted in places with a great deal of scene setting. My one real criticism is the end is very abrupt. The book is billed as a stand alone, but I would certainly be happy to read a follow on

    Members Reviews:
    Wonderful Adirondack Mystery
This was my re-visit of Here be Monsters having read it when it was first published. I am not usually one to re-read a book so I was curious as to how it would be to hear a book I had already read. The only difference was that while the reader did a great job , the "voice" was not the same as what I "heard" when I read it. That actually made the book "new" for me. I love the book, the characters, the story and the Adirondack setting. I highly recommend this book.
    Informative and intriguing
Michael Pauley's narrative gave a keen insight and depth into a hero who is complex in his quirks as he is with his precision to details and time. Interesting read.
    A fun Adirondack Mystery
Where does Here Be Monsters rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
I enjoyed the story and the narration very much.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tyler was/is my favorite character, because I feel as though I can identify with him.
What about Michael Pauleys performance did you like?
I greatly enjoyed the way Mr. Pauley inhabited the characters and the story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The two scenes that come to mind are in the one in Tahawus and the final scene between Tyler and George.
    Any additional comments?
Overall very enjoyable, and I look forward to more audiobook versions of the Tyler Cunningham stories.

I was very surprised to find that Bear Grylls is such a good author of fiction books. I've read some of his work before but this is story telling at its best! As a lomg standing fan of Bear, O absolutelt loved Ghost Flight!
    ghost
Would you try another book from Bear Grylls and/or Rupert Degas?
i don,t know im finding it hard to get into this book voice seems to be low need volume up on radio to hear
Would you be willing to try another book from Bear Grylls? Why or why not?
again i don,t know this one has not got me excited by the third chapter keep putting it on hold
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
    yes i think he could
Did Ghost Flight inspire you to do anything?
    buy a differant book
What a Fantastic Book - The good thing is that it's just the First installment
I mostly listen to Non Fiction because so much of the Fiction writing these days seems to be so formulaic or just not to be credible. I've previously read a couple of Bears' books and enjoyed them, particularly his first when he climbed Everest, so I thought I would give Ghost Flight a go.
The writing is descriptive and absorbing and the chapters just role by.
The narration is simply First Class!
You would think that after 12 or 13 hours it would be time to move on to something new, but not a bit of it.
Bear when's the next one coming out?
If your looking for a Really good Read/Listen then I would definitely recommend Ghost Flight
    Cheesy but great
This books uses just about every cliche you can imagine and then some. However I can't deny that it was great fun and I can't wait for the sequel.
The narrator was excellent with a truly great range of accents and character.
If you are after a really easy listen / read that doesn't take too much effort but still keeps you interested then this is the book for you.
    Far too detailed
The opening scene was excellent but 17 chapters in and it only just started to begin (skipped several to try to get to the story).
It's just far too detailed, "he stepped down hard on the turf, the green leaves of the grass folding over under his heavy brown boot, ants scattered in every direction, a lady bird tried to take off but a moment too late as it felt the weight of the boot squeeze it's eyes from it sockets. Meanwhile he left boot swung through the air, flicking the surface of the grass before it too sent ants scattering...

    Photo Shoot
Would you consider the audio edition of Photo Shoot to be better than the print version?
Yes because I enjoy being able to do other things at the same time as listening to the book.
What did you like best about this story?
As I get older I enjoyed that a older woman was the hero, not to underestimate her.
Which character as performed by D. Gaunt was your favorite?
    Linsay.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I extremely like the closure at the end when she confronted Jorge. I found the word maybe at the end to be cautious yet powerful.
    Any additional comments?
Very good looking read (Listen) =)
Wonderful, fast moving story from a gifted author
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It was a great listen with a fresh, realistic main character to root for.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved that the main character is an older woman who doesn't let age get in her way when it comes to bringing in a killer.
    Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the beginning when she accidently witnesses a shooting while taking pictures - great lead in to the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it is and I did!
    Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the sequel to come out as an audio book - I've read it and loved it, but something about having the story read aloud gives it a new life.
    Well written and intriguing
Where does Photo Shoot rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Although brief this story was well told and well narrated.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I felt like I was hiding in the backseat with Lindsey as she made her way through this adventure.
What about D. Gaunts performance did you like?
I could hear and feel the emotion and stubbornness coming from each and every character. So refreshing when compared to the deadpan style of so many others I have heard.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was amazed as the main character was able to step into the role of reporter at the shooting with calm collectiveness instead of freaking out as any normal person would have done.

    Sometimes trust can be dangerous
Elizabeth Young is FBI agent Collin MacBride's prime suspect in the murder of a prominent Manhattan psychiatrist - the one and only lead in an ongoing investigation. Elizabeth had motive - her affair with the doctor hadnt ended well. She had means - the exquisite antique dagger shed given him as a gift was buried to the hilt in his chest. She had opportunity - dinner with Elizabeth had been penciled in on the doctors calendar for the night he was murdered. Yet Mac cant bring himself to believe she did it. But is he thinking like an investigator or like the man who wants Elizabeth all to himself?
Elizabeth is terrified that Collin MacBride will learn her secret. Somehow she must convince him that shes innocent without allowing the determined agent to discover the truth. If she can just find the very intimate and very erotic video her former psychiatrist had blackmailed her with, just maybe she can escape a murder charge. But when female patients of the late doctor start being murdered one by one, Elizabeth understands that she is on that same murder list and MacBride is the only man who can save her.

    Marti' s review
This book had suspense, mystery and murder. Who done it? A prominent psychiatrist is murdered and the most of suspects is a mile long. The good doctor was into blackmail and seducing his patients. The heroine Elizabeth has some trust issues and is scared about being a suspect in the murder. Mac the FBI agent in the case knows Elizabeth is lying to him, but at the same time cannot deny his attraction to Elizabeth. The book moves fast and keeps you engaged. Overall I recommend it.
Murder and romance and the law.
Debra Webb writes romance and suspense and police and FBI like nobody's business. I am a fan of Ms. Webb. For fast, grab-at-me action and some sizzling sex that does not waylay the plot, this book does it all. Believable characters and creatively evil villains that get their "due" secures a four-star rating from me.
    Better than expected
I went into this book having just read another of this author's works that I did not care for much. So I was pleasantly surprised to like this one as much as I did. The male lead character was much easier to like, and although the female lead did have some issues, they weren't enough to ruin the book for me. The sexual tension between these 2 was fairly intense, so I also enjoyed the romance aspect of the book. The plot had me glued to the story until the very end, then the big reveal about the killer just got stupid, which is why I took off a star. I also felt the story line explaining how the FBI got involved in this case was sort of lame, and it wasn't really explored much. But overall, I'd recommend the book. But be warned: it isn't as long as it appears to be. I finished the book when it still said I had 20% and over 1 hour left. That would be because the rest of it is the first few chapters of another of the author's books, "Bone Deep", which I do not recommend.
    a captivating read!
Quick paced with real life type characterization a.
A who dunnit mystery with unexpected outcome! Keeps you coming back .
    Just don't see it
