Hey sis! This Bible study was amazing. We are talking about some foundational truths about trauma, transgression, and unforgiveness.
The word forgive means to release, discharge, or send away. When we forgive we are not dismissing our pain, we are not dismissing the consequences of the transgression, we are not pretending like the trauma or transgression did not happen; when we forgive we are losing our desire to invoke our own level of punishment on the transgressor despite whether or not they deserve it. Because God is a just God and vengeance belongs to Him, we don’t need to be preoccupied with the delivery of the punishment (2 Thessalonians 1:9; Romans 12:19). We simply can rest assured that God will deal with the situation justly, will support us during the recovery process, and will ultimately utilize what the enemy meant for evil, for our good.
Focal Scripture: Matthew 6:14-15
Scripture References: Psalm 34:18, Hebrews 12:14-15
Objectives: Introduce and discuss the impact of trauma and transgressions in regards to our faith. To establish the language and understanding of what it means to forgive and why we should forgive.
