As the trial for Chad Daybell approaches, a curious twist has emerged: Chad wants cameras in the courtroom. This request stands in stark contrast to the 2023 trial of his wife, Lori Vallow Daybell, where cameras were notably absent. With such a high-profile case already saturated with eerie allegations and morbid details, one has to wonder, why the sudden change in approach?

 

 In a recent episode of the "Hidden Killers" podcast, host Tony Brueski delved deep into this peculiarity with the help of former Federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani. Rahmani offered insights into the unexpected twist, suggesting, "Chad Daybell is no ordinary criminal defendant... He is an author. He probably wants to be a best-selling author and he's a cult leader. So yeah, what better marketing for your followers than having your case broadcast live for weeks." This theory might not be far-fetched, considering Chad's known aspirations for publicity, potentially envisioning the trial as a grandstand to promote his beliefs.

 

 However, Brueski presents an alternative viewpoint, questioning whether Chad genuinely believes his own narrative. "Is this Chad trying to grandstand and have his moment in the spotlight to preach whatever nonsense he believes?" he speculates. This conjecture underscores the uncertainty surrounding the true motives of the Daybells, who have repeatedly shocked the public with their bizarre claims of predicting a zombie apocalypse.

 

 The heinous nature of the crimes in question cannot be understated. The couple allegedly caused the deaths of those close to them, including their children, whose remains were tragically discovered buried in their backyard. Rahmani highlights the severe uphill battle facing Chad, opining, "I don't really know what Chad is possibly going to say or do to be able to convince even one juror to acquit."

 

 The upcoming trial promises to be just as, if not more, contentious as Lori's. With the conviction of Lori Vallow Daybell still fresh in the minds of many, Rahmani warns of potential implicit biases. He notes, "I think it's tough not to know the co-defendant was convicted... especially when the defendant is even less sympathetic."

 

 When asked about the evidence from Lori Vallow's trial and its admissibility in Chad Daybell's trial, Rahmani clarifies that it's not a simple transfer. "Chad Daybell's lawyers have the right to cross-examine all those same witnesses. So expect to see more of the same," he states. This means revisiting the painful testimonies and challenging circumstances surrounding the deaths.

 

 Given the overwhelming evidence against Chad, Brueski and Rahmani's discussion eventually gravitates towards the ultimate question: will Chad Daybell face the death penalty? Rahmani draws parallels with other notorious death penalty cases, like that of Nicholas Cruz, pointing out the challenge of finding sympathy for a defendant in such extreme circumstances. "If you believe in the death penalty... this is a death penalty case," Rahmani declares.

 

 In the end, the strategy of Chad Daybell's defense remains an enigma. Unlike Lori's defense, which seemed to surrender in the face of overwhelming evidence, Rahmani feels Chad's team might take a more combative approach. "I think if you're the lawyers here, you got to just swing for the fences," he suggests, emphasizing the dire nature of the situation.
