There are reports of power cuts in many places, including the capital, Kingston. The Category Four storm is already causing dangerous winds and a sea surge. The Jamaican prime minister, Andrew Holness, has declared a twelve-hour daytime curfew across the island. The hurricane caused extensive damage on other Caribbean islands. Seven people are known to have died so far.
