  • The Minnesota Iceman: Missing Link or a Charlatan's Sham? | 237

What do you do when you find a previously undiscovered hominid frozen in a block of ice? Well, obviously you thaw him out and go eat microwave burritos at 7-11. But, in the off chance Pauly Shore is unavailable for said hijinks - you might just tour around the country charging people to get a look-see. And that's exactly what happened when Frank Hansen got his hands on this particular Neanderthal-sickle. But the story gets weirder. The Smithsonian comes to take a look, it's determined the wannabe Bigfoot was shot in the head, and someone at Disney claims they actually made the thing out of latex and a lack of common sense. We try to melt the mystery of the Minnesota Iceman this week. Plus, we welcome Dan Kozuh back to the show (he's got a new podcast - The Extramundane with Max Ward), C-Bot isn't exactly firing on all cylinders (is he ever?), and Brent plants a fake voicemail lauding his hosting talents (might be fake, might not but since I write the descriptions- we're going with it). All of that and more on the podcast that’s never thawed a Neanderthal from a gigantic block of ice, but if we did we’re pretty sure he’d look like Brendan Fraser - Hysteria 51.

  • Flashback Winner Pick: The Kardashev Scale | 236

Alright yuh sacks, Conspiracy Bot here. You voted last week and the winner was crowned. Me. But also John Titor for some reason. And the winner was picked for the prize pack, one loser named Skylar Horton. His crap is in the mail but to make him feel like less of a douche pickle for listening to this dumpster fire of a podcast I reached out and let him pick his favorite episode of all time for this week's final flashback episode. Without further ado, here is Skylar's pick, The Kardashev Scale

How advanced is our civilization? Hot Pockets? Check. Cat memes? Check. Total control of our planet’s resources, weather, and energy? Well…we’ll get back to you. That’s the basic premise of the Kardashev Scale. It’s a simple test to judge a civilization’s technological advancement. The scale ranges from 0 (we’re a 0.7) to a 6 or 7 (think omnipotent beings). This week we explore where we are, where we’re (hopefully) going, and how we can get there. Plus, Conspiracy Bot gives himself an upgrade to SUPER C (he’s been playing too much NES), the neighborhood cats are back in his cross-hairs (he drank a bottle of Malört), and we talk how Pluto has gotten the shaft (#teamPluto). All of that and more on the podcast that didn’t know you in high school, but if we had we would have beat up any other podcasts that made fun of your Magic the Gathering collection – Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week’s research sources:Books:Evolving the Alien: The Science of Extraterrestrial Life by Jack Cohen and Ian StewartParallel Worlds: A Journey Through Creation, Higher Dimensions, and the Future of the Cosmos by Michio KakuWizards, Aliens, and Starships by Charles L. • FLASHBACK: The Solway Firth Spaceman | 235

CBot here. It's Flashback week on Hysteria 51.  Monday through Friday this week the meatsacks are releasing one of their favorite past episodes of the show.  On Friday there will be a post where you can vote for your favorite episode of the week.  1 person who voted will be picked at random for a prize pack so make sure to hop on Hysteria Nation if you like crap from dumb podcasts.  I hope you lose!

Nothing worse than a photobomb. There you are minding your own business, taking a picture of your lovely daughter and next thing you know some idiot time traveler / astronaut / inter-dimensional being drops his/her/its mug into your frame. And while we’ve all been through it, there’s a famous version we’re talking about this week - The Solway Firth Spaceman. Where did the other figure come from? Could this be a real, true documentation of a close encounter? How much is free film for a year actually worth? We dive in deep and see what develops. Plus, Conspiracy Bot actually did research this week (albeit unsuccessfully, but...ya know...baby steps). Brent channels his inner British housewife from the 1960s (it wasn’t a huge leap). And John starts talking about time travel again (we wish it existed so we could go back and stop him). All of that and more on the podcast that doesn’t do a ton of photo shoots, but when we do they’re in the UK and they involve a spaceman – Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week’s research sources:Research Assistant - Raymond Walden IVVideosBrain Scratch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtXstgx_8-YBBC Look North, January 10, 2008 - https://youtu.be/ItiPAxD1t34WebsitesSolway Firth Spaceman - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solway_Firth_SpacemanSolway Firth - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solway_FirthBBC - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-cumbria-27391210RationalWiki - https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Solway_Firth_SpacemanDr. David Clarke - https://drdavidclarke.co.uk/secret-files/the-solway-spaceman-photograph/r/todayilearned - https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/1by8qm/til_in_1964_a_man_photographing_his_daughter_in_a/c9bierv/The Whitehaven News (waybackmachine) -https://web.archive.org/web/20140709010824/http://www.whitehavennews.co.uk/home/famous-ufo-sightings-from-the-past-1.578420?referrerPath=1.386555"The Men in Black are real.." CBot here. Weird things happen in Kentucky…chili buns…distilleries in dry counties…Johnny Depp. But perhaps the strangest was the day it rained meat on a rural farmstead. The event, now known as the Kentucky Meat Shower, is not only 100% real, it’s also yet to be fully explained. What would cause the heavens to open and drop a meaty monsoon on an unsuspecting farmer’s wife? We grab our umbrellas (and grills) and dive in to the Kentucky Meat Shower this week. Plus, Joe Peck returns to the show (it was unexpected), Kyle gets buggy again (less unexpected), and Conspiracy Bot has a new song (we wish we hadn’t expected it). All of that and more on the podcast that’s never been in a shower of meat, but one can dream – Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week’s research sources:Research Assistant - Raymond Walden IVBooks / JournalsThe United States of Absurdity: Untold Stories from American History Hardcover | Dave AnthonyThe Kentucky Shower of Flesh. • FLASHBACK: Somerton Man | 233

A recently deceased man’s body is discovered on an Australian beach. No signs of foul play and at first glance it appears to be just another unremarkable death. But then… The man can’t be identified…with any database…anywhere on the planet. All tags have been removed from his clothing, taking away the ability to even trace their country of origin. A small scrap of paper is found in his possession with two words in Persian, torn from a rare first edition book by a 12th century poet. Oh, and that natural death? Might not have been so natural. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg in what is considered Australia’s most perplexing cold case. The Somerton Man case has it all; love triangles, spy games, and even ciphers! Every good mystery needs a cipher. The H51 I-Team investigates. Plus, we discuss the various ways to die or get eaten in Australia, the return of C-Bot’s homicidal tendencies, and the return of the WHEEL OF CONSPIRACIES! All of that and more on the podcast that isn’t from the Land Down Under, but we sure like to party like we are – Hysteria 51.

  • FLASHBACK: John Titor- Time Traveler or Internet Troll | 232

If time travel is possible and future humans are coming back to our era...what would they want? To kill a future despot? To make a change to the environment that saves future generations? To take back a computer from 1975 to make their time machine work properly? If you're anything like the subject of this week's show, John Titor, you went with door #3. According to his posts on the internet, John Titor traveled back to the 70s to get a special computer to save time travel. He also made a pit stop along the way in the early 00's to live with his family (and 2 year old self) and presumably post snotty messages on inane internet forums (not stand-up forums like Hysteria Nation). Sound crazy? That's the most normal part of this story. This week we do our best Sam Beckett and try to fix what went wrong with the OG Chrononaut - John Titor. Plus, John and Brent ponder the existential perils of time travel (not really - just looking for ways to make money on it). Conspiracy bot ponders the existential perils of time travel (not really - just looking for other ways to kill John and Brent). And David Flora of Blurry Photos is back in the lower 4th (he just wants to time travel to a time before he met Conspiracy Bot). All of that and more on the podcast that doesn’t have time travel capabilities, but if we did, we’d do things to improve humanity…and make an insane amount of money – Hysteria 51.Time Travel / John Titor songs referenced in the show:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z6ppzwikfchttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz_uGrpgPBQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxaTHTisUvghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmvBi2NOO3Ehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHl4GnwFv20

Dulce, New Mexico: population 2,743…ABOVE GROUND! That’s right, according to some there is a secret base under Dulce that houses everything from classified US technology to reptilians. According to those same folks Dulce is one of the many underground facilities that Reptilians use to run experiments on humans. Oh, and there was a huge underground battle there between aliens and the US military. The aliens managed to win because they had advanced ray guns. And from there….the story REALLY starts to get strange. This week we grab our tinfoil hats and go down the reptilian hole as we explore the Dulce Underground Base. Plus, Conspiracy Bot stays sober long enough to do some writing (surprisingly true), we learn there is a Starbucks on Venus that employed Conspiracy Bot (not true at all), and Kevin Crispin is back in the lower 4th (fun and true)! All of that and more on the podcast that’s never fought reptilians underground, our battles have always taken place on Outworld (Reptile wins!) – Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week’s research sources:Research Assistant – Raymond Walden IVBooks:The UFO Casebook by Kevin D RandleProject Beta: The Story of Paul Bennewitz, National Security, and the Creation of a Modern UFO Myth by Greg BishopUnderground Alien Bio Lab At Dulce: The Bennewitz UFO Papers by Timothy Green BeckleyCosmic Top Secret: America's Secret Ufo Program - New Evidence by William F. • CAFEteria 51: Indonesia | BONUS

As you might or might not know we've been doing these extra episodes for a bit now where we try various food oddities and talk about them. Well, we've decided it's time to expand our horizons and start the Cafeteria 51 World Tour! That's right, for the foreseeable future each Cafeteria 51 episode will reflect some sort of food form a various country or region around the world. We're not saying the foods we pick are necessarily representative of anything other than the food is in some way, shape, or form associated with said country. As is the case this week with INDONESIA. Did we dig up a delectable version of Beef Rendang? Nope. Find a hidden gem that serves an amazing Siomay? Nuh uh. We went high class this week with…Indonesian RAMEN! Indomie Chicken Curry flavor to be precise. So join us  as we head east to experience everything Indonesian ramen has to offer!

  • Fenn's Treasure: A Modern Day Treasure Hunt! | 230

A former Air Force pilot turned (possibly shady) art dealer thinks he's on his way to the grave in the late 80s and comes up with an idea. He's going to use his amassed wealth to put together a modern day treasure chest and go die next to it in the Rocky Mountains. The flaw in his plan? He didn't die. That man was Forest Fenn and he eventually decided in 2010 to hide the treasure anyway (without his body) and tell the world to go find it; winner take all. And with that the hunt was on. Over the course of the next decade hundreds of thousands of people searched high and low for this infamous box. Some even lost their lives in the pursuit. But was this treasure really out there? If so, were the clues really under everyone's noses in a poem Fenn had written? And perhaps most importantly, could John and Brent be any worse at poetry recital? We answer those questions and more this week as we go in search of Fenn's Treasure. Plus, Conspiracy Bot plugs yet another "Uncle Conspiracy Bot’s Fun Time Toy" (sigh), Kyle gets a change of scenery (and circuitry), and the studio gets a redecoration (not in a good way). All of that and more on the podcast that’s never found a buried treasure, but we did once stumble upon two tickets to paradise - Hysteria 51.

With your hosts, Brent Hand and David Flora, alongside our cantankerous tin man, Conspiracy Bot (with a not-so-subtle desire to rule the world, doubling as our chief inquisitor into the unknown), we delve into unique mysteries, the inexplicable, and the downright unusual.
