Just the casual back yard race where you challenge your buddy to race to the fence. You might get that kind of feeling at a back yard ultra. The format is simple really. One loop is 4.167 miles, you start every hour, you run one loop, and as long as you're back in the starting corral before the next hour starts, you keep on continuing until you are the "last man or woman standing". Everyone else is a looser who DNF'd. Sounds exciting doesn't it...go find one near you today and let us know all about it!

Who hasn't heard of couch to 5k, or how about couch to 10k? Sometimes you'll even hear of people going from couch to half marathon or marathon training. Well, cleanse your pallet and refresh your thinking of what it means to start training for you next race. Welcome to "Zero To Sports Pro". PT Sports Pro founder, Terence Reuben and his son Nic Reuben are going to share just what that means. Nick is going to take on the challenge of training for the ultra distance triathlon. That's a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile marathon for a grand total of 140.6 miles.

Quick little update on the Camille Herron story in Ultra Running on the 48 hour record. Also, in Chicago the world record was broken in the women's marathon! Ruth Chepng'etich became the first woman to break 2:10 in the marathon distance. What an amazing accomplishment!
Also, go check out the Indiana Trail 100. This one is a favorite of ours as they do everything so well. Check your calendar and see if you can join in there next year.

Nobody likes injuries and some runners do NOT deal with them well at all. It's time to talk more on what we should and can do to help and we're using our favorite guinea pig to discuss this further. Mitch is throwing himself on the sword and even making a little fun of himself as we dive into why he just can't get healed up.
Maybe you can relate? Tell us all about it, we would love to hear as they say, misery loves company.

The world of ultra running doesn't often have controversy or drama. Most of this community leaves that to the road or to other sports all together. However the last 7 days has brought out some drama behind one runner and what she may or may not be doing to fluff up her stats...when she honestly doesn't even need to. She is a rock star runner that really can let her results speak for themself. We want to just cover a little of that and I think most importantly say, we really wish the best to Camille Herron, her husband and the sport of Ultra Running in general. We want to cheer on and lift up each other in this sport! Let's choose grace and kindness versus beating anyone down. Peace and God Bless!

Something new this way comes. Yep, we're doing movie reviews now...well, sort of. The last few weeks have been crazy and that means travel, airplanes and movies on the plane. I saw one I just had to watch and share a review with you all. "26.2 to Life: Inside The San Quentin Prison Marathon" is a movie to watch, especially if you're a runner. Get ready to shed a tear or two and enjoy.
Also, Mitch is off running another marathon in Vermont and we can't wait to talk about this one. It's a little different than your normal marathon entry.
