I Miss You Man

We live in a global world – but some people out there are uncontacted from the rest of society. Lonnie and Dylan discuss these people, as well as the fascinating story of Ishi, a Native American man who joined white Californian society in the 1910s. Not so many laughs on this episode, but hopefully some thoughtful conversation.

110 episodes in and it’s about time Dylan sits Lonnie down to discuss whether he’s going to be allowed on the podcast permanently. Dylan has a bunch of strange job interview questions for Lonnie. Will he pass the test? Is this the last IMYM ever? Listen and find out. Gets a bit spicy in parts, so don't listen with little kids!

It’s another instalment of The Christina Chronicles, our deep dive into the filmography of Christina Ricci! This week – After.Life.

We all enjoy Justin Long. Liam Neeson is a good one too. And we all love Christina Ricci of course. But together in After.Life, they don’t really shine. It’s horror without any scares or much to say. The morgue scenes are a bit creepy though.

It’s a special episode of I Miss You Man! Lonnie bought a Rolling Stone magazine from 1999 and boy is it very 1999... the cover star is Jar Jar Binks, there are nasty letters to the editor about Britney Spears and people are prematurely excited about Woodstock 99. And get this, the fellas invited along their favourite fellow podcaster who happens to be a woman, Jessa Stephens from My Girlfriend Dolly! They discuss this magazine and the wider pop culture/society issues it presents, particularly the widespread bullying of public figures. And Jessa is really funny, honestly she leaves the fellas for dead with her anecdotes this week.

And our Get Amongst It suggestion this week… Jessa recommends Last Stop Larrimah (based solely on the trailer).

Do you remember the early 2000s sitcom ‘Do Over’ starring Penn Badgley? Probably not. But Lonnie did! And he brought it into Dylan’s life… but will Dylan love it as much as Lonnie does? Well it’s a show about a guy being sent back in time to relive his youth with whacky hijinks and sweet moral lessons. What’s not to love?

A book fell into Dylan’s lap this week – Quirky Questions from the man, the myth, the legend, Sandy McCutcheon! Conversations starters, icebreakers and dinner party discussion points, that sort of thing. So Dylan lets fate decide which questions for the fellas to chat about! Redesigning the flag, disposing of dead bodies, going back in time – you’ll be surprised how many times JFK is brought up!

It’s another instalment of The Christina Chronicles, our deep dive into the filmography of Christina Ricci! This week – All’s Faire in Love.

The fellas had to engage Canadian Plex to watch this week’s movie. And no offence to the great nation of Canada or our good friends on Plex… but it’s never a good sign when this is the only way to watch a movie. Christina is reliable as always, but this movie about idiots at a Renaissance fair is pretty terrible.

Curb Your Enthusiasm - Season 2, Episode 3 “Trick or Treat”

South Park - Season 10, Episode 11 “Hell on Earth 2006”

Lonnie’s episodes

Community - Season 2, Episode 6 "Epidemiology"

Canon. The things that happened in a fictional world. Pretty simple right? Wrong! It’s a really thorny subject but one that we’ve figured out for you. So tag along as we discuss retcons, headcanon, elevated fanboys and everything else that goes along with large and unwieldy fictional universes.

Should Batman kill people? Did The Doctor have lives before William Hartnell? Do midi-chlorians give you Force powers? Listen to us – including special guest and smartest man alive, Julian Barr! - and we’ll let you know what’s real and what’s just expanded universe.

Our Get Amongst It suggestion… Julian reckons you should get amongst the new Dungeons and Dragons movie. And has he ever steered you wrong before?

There used to be TV show in Australia where a guy walked up to random people on the street and had a chat. That was it. It’s a bit strange, it’s very low stakes… but also very fascinating. This week the fellas have watched some Front Up and are here to talk all about it.
