However, that narrative changed this week as Senator Romario, the rapporteur of the sports betting bill at the Commission of Sports, published his report. So has he voted to approve the bill? Or will this be another step in an attempt to kill the goose that lays the golden egg?
This will be the topic of today’s iGaming Daily, sponsored by SBC Summit Latinoamerica, Lucía Mouriño is joined by her SBC Noticias colleagues Isadora Marcante and Fernando Noodt to delve more into Romario’s report.

In the light of revelations by controversial Italian journalist Fabrizio Corona that exposed a betting scandal in Italian football, iGaming Daily, sponsored by SBC Summit Latinoamerica, are once again examining the relationship between professional football and the betting industry after it was revealed that Italy internationals Nicolò Fagioli and Sandro Tonali had bet on matches via illegal websites.
With rumours swirling that more Serie A stars are soon to be drawn into the scandal, and Juve's Fagioli already hit with a ban, it emerged that footballers using black market sites are just the tip of a very large iceberg when Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Italian gamblers stake €25bn a year with illegal operators.
Almost immediately, representatives of the regulated industry suggested that the scale of the black market was the inevitable outcome of Italy’s ban on gambling advertising.
Martyn Elliott steps into the hosts chair to discuss this fast-moving topic, joined by Insider Sport's Callum Williams and SBC Sponsorship Director George Harborne, with the panel discussing how a tale of two bans, Italy's on industry advertising and Fagioli's from the game itself, could be inextricably related.

It's Thursday and you know what that means. Once again iGaming Daily turns our attention to Latin America, specifically Peru and Brasil, as host James Ross is joined by Fernando Noodt of SBC Noticias, and Isadora Marcante of SBC Notícias Brasil.
First stop, Peru, as the country's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), finally approved the bill laying out the technical and regulatory requirements for gambling operators wishing to offer their services in Peru.
The modified Law will come into force on February 9, 2024 and, from then on, operators will have 30 days (until March 10) to register with Mincetur, this leaves operators with a tight schedule to comply with the new rules, and Mincetur have warned of hefty fines for non-compliance.
What does this mean for operators and players alike in Peru, and how will this shape the future of the market?

Last week, key stakeholders of British Horseracing agreed on comprehensive changes for the heritage sport to adopt in 2024.
Led by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) – next year British racecourses will embrace a new fixtures list promoting ‘Premier Racedays’ to grow and engage racing with a wider audience.
Declaring further sweeping changes The Jockey Club announced that The Grand National will implement its commitment to rider and racehorse safety, in which Britain’s biggest race will be reduced to a field size from 40 to 34 runners.
Changes are deemed necessary for British racing to recapture its public trust and appeal. Yet writing to the government, racing leadership maintain their critical concern on the financial impact of ‘affordability checks’ on UK gambling impacting racing’s future prospects and sustainability for its vast network of stakeholders.
This will be the main point of discussion to kickstart the week on iGaming Daily, sponsored by SBC Summit Latinoamerica, as James Ross is joined by the two Ted's with Edward Menmuir and Ted Orme-Claye.

This week, the American Gaming Association has been at the centre of industry attention as it hosted G2E in Las Vegas. As around 25,000 descended upon the Venetian, the AGA marked the occasion by revealing the economic impact of the gaming industry throughout 2022.
Headline figures show that the US industry is worth around $329bn to the national economy, and is one of the most crucial industries in the country.
But what does this tell us about the state of US gaming after the rollout of regulated sports betting and igaming? And could this influence a wave of igaming legislation? That’s what SBC Americas Senior Journalist Charlie Horner and CasinoBeats Editor Craig Davies chat about on today’s episode of iGaming Daily, sponsored by SBC Summit Latinoamerica.
Later on in the show, Jessica Welman and Lucia Mourino join all the way from Las Vegas and the two digest what they have experienced at G23 2023.
