The sports betting industry has been revolutionized by Lula signing the provisional measure that paves the way for regulated sports betting in Brazil. While still facing a lengthy process, the industry is sharing the pros and cons of the recently unveiled rules.

The biggest talking point so far has been the increase in operator taxes, which rose from 16% to 18% of the GGR, making it one of the highest in the continent and potentially opening the doors to a parallel and illegal market.

With greater choice in product, developers are tasked to provide more immersive experiences to keep the player engaged.

To bet or not to bet? That is the legal question surrounding Daily Fantasy Sport sites in the US offering prop-style options. While many, including FanDuel and DraftKings, insist they are just sports betting in a different outfit, others insist they fall well within the realm of fantasy sports.

One such proponent is Betr, who is finally taking its platform to a nationwide scale not through sportsbooks but through Betr Picks, a new DFS site available in 24 states including Texas and California.

Reported today on Payment Expert, Klarna Kosma, the Open Banking platform from the Buy Now, Pay Later firm, has been shut down after less than 18 months.

Flutter Entertainment and the Fox Corporation announced the phased closure of the pair’s joint sports betting business, almost four years after the entity first came to market.

The House of Mouse knows no bounds as it sets it eyes on the US sporting landscape.

Recent reports stated that Disney, along with its subsidiary company ESPN, are manoeuvring itself in the middle of major US sports leagues, as the former's Chief Executive Bob Iger, reportedly held talks with the NFL, NBA and MLB about becoming minority investors in the latter.
