  • United States: Donald Trump and the Russian connection
US President Donald Trump says he was within his rights to disclose information to Moscow, this amid a row over him sharing classified intelligence with Russian officials. It comes after US media reported that top secret information was revealed during a meeting with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the Oval Office last week. It's the latest media storm to engulf Trump, who is also facing criticism for firing the FBI director James Comey. FRANCE 24’s James André tells us more. We also head to Tangier Island off the coast of Virginia, which is slowly disappearing due to climate change. The islanders, though, are staunch supporters of President Trump who has in the past called climate change a hoax.
And we see how in Argentina, the land of Maradona and Messi, things are changing as the trend of mixed football grows.

  • Zika: Brazilian families still discovering extent of disease
Eighteen months ago, Brazil was first hit by the Zika virus. Now, thousands of mothers are caring for babies with severe deformities. The Zika outbreak was linked to an alarming rise in babies born with microcephaly, a disease that affects the development of the skull and brain. Health authorities have promised to open specialised treatment centres for the infants. But in the meantime, parents are turning to each other for help. Meanwhile, in the US, Donald Trump has fired FBI director James Comey. The White House is defending the shock move as a way to restore public trust. But Democrats claim it's just more proof of a cover-up of Trump's alleged ties to Russia.
The US is also being hit by a skyrocketing number of drug overdoses, up 200 percent since the year 2000. We report from West Virginia, the state with the highest number of drug-related deaths.

  • Fort McMurray: Scars remain, one year after devastating wildfire
In May 2016, a wildfire devastated the western Canadian city of Fort McMurray, destroying 600,000 hectares of forest and forcing around 88,000 residents to evacuate their homes. As the first anniversary of the blaze approaches, most of the locals have decided to come back, but they are still struggling to rebuild their lives. We went to find out how they are coming to terms with the natural disaster. But first, we take a closer look at the opposition leaders who are flying the flag in the growing protest movement against the Venezuelan president and his government.
And we see how a dry expanse of sand and stones in the north of Chile could hold the key to answering one of science's oldest questions: is there life on Mars?

  • Colombia: FARC disarmament leads to baby boom
In Colombia, the current disarmament of some 7,000 FARC rebels has led to one particularly interesting result: a baby boom! Almost half of the fighters were women and were forbidden from having children during the conflict. But in this new era, some 200 women are now expecting what are being called their "peace babies". But first, Donald Trump hits the 100-day mark of his presidency this week. We take a look at how his administration is measuring up to its campaign promises so far.
And funding the US president's proposed wall with Mexico has hit a major snag with the budget bill. We meet one Native American tribe that could see itself split in two if Trump manages to still push it through.

  • USA: America's ageing infrastructure
In the United States, the state of public infrastructure has been deteriorating for years, sometimes even posing a safety risk to citizens. One of US President Donald Trump's major campaign themes was to get the country's infrastructure back on track. But it's not just a question of dealmaking and project management. It often comes down to whether Americans are willing to pay for the roads, bridges and other structures they say they want. Meanwhile, this week on Facebook, over 20,000 people watched a graphic video of a Cleveland man being shot dead, prompting the social media site to review its policy on offensive content.
Plus, a former governor of Mexico, once a rising anti-corruption star, is arrested in Guatemala after six months on the run.

  • USA: Sonoran Desert at risk from real estate development
In the US, the Sonoran Desert stretches from Arizona to California and further south to Mexico. It's home to some 2,500 different species of plants and animals. But as the population in the nearby city of Phoenix swells beyond four million, the largest desert in North America is feeling the strain. There are fears that urban expansion is putting this fragile ecosystem in danger. But first, after the deadly mudslide in Colombia, we look at the reasons why such devastating natural disasters happen.
And in the US, Fox News advertisers are jumping ship. They are ditching the channel's flagship show "The O'Reilly Factor" amid a slew of sexual harrassment allegations against the host, Bill O'Reilly.

  • Jared Kushner: From son-in-law to top Trump advisor
Until now, US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner had been able to avoid much of the scrutiny that comes with working in the White House. But not anymore. He is the fourth Trump associate to be caught up in the Russia probe. We tell you more about Kushner and just how he could shape the country's future. But first, environmental groups are preparing to go to court to fight Donald Trump's move to boost fossil fuels. The US president has signed a sweeping executive order that would roll back Barack Obama's plans to curb global warming.
And Sao Paulo takes aim at street art, covering up dozens of works around the city, much to the dismay of local artists.

  • Export bans hit Brazil amid tainted meat scandal
After the discovery by Brazilian police of a corruption network in which some meatpackers paid crooked inspectors to pass off rotten and adulterated meat as safe, worldwide markets have been partially or totally closing their doors to Brazilian meat. It’s a difficult situation for Brazil, which sells $15 billion worth of meat abroad, its biggest export. But first, devastating floods in Peru wreak havoc in the country, leaving close to 80 dead and some 650,000 affected.
And to mark this week's International French Language Day, we visit a French high school in Colombia.

  • Trump administration: Kellyanne Conway's 'alternative' world
This week, we focus on the woman known as the "Trump whisperer". Kellyanne Conway is a character full of contradictions, who studied at Oxford and talks about spy microwaves with cameras. The first woman to run a winning presidential campaign and one of Donald Trump's most trusted advisors, she is also highly controversial and has been caught several times on camera making some truly surprising remarks. We also head to Guatemala, where thousands took to the streets this week, demanding the president resign. That's after close to 40 teenage girls were killed in a fire at a state-run shelter for abused teens.
And we tell you about South by Southwest, the music festival-turned-film festival-turned-tech extravaganza.

  • Brazil, the transsexual murder capital of the world
In Brazil, 144 transsexuals were killed last year - the highest number in the world. Transsexuals are the celebrated queens of the famous Brazilian carnival, admired and advertised around the world. But outside the big cities, the reality is less festive: they are ostracized, persecuted and killed. Our reporters went to meet some of them. But first, as Donald Trump continues to crack down on illegal immigration, we take a look at people on the run up north to Canada.
And, could your computer, smartphone or TV be spying on you? We tell you more about the new WikiLeaks information dump linked to the CIA.
