Word of Mouth was our first real introduction into Orange wines and there was no better way to learn about it than with Peter and Deb.  Both were so hospitable, warm, and accommodating.  You can understand why they won an Australian Best Cellar Door Award from Gourmet Wine Traveller and The Real Review Certificate of Excellence.

In this episode we get to interview Peter Gibson who founded Word of Mouth Wines (WOM) in 1999.  We have never learnt so much about wine in only 30 minutes! Peter is one of those people that has a 'twinkle' in their eye when they speak.  You can tell he has an intrigue, passion, and curiosity for winemaking, and it reflects in the unique variety and high-quality of wines and that WOM sell.  Peter taught us so much about the uniqueness of the Orange wine region, his approach to winemaking, and introduced us to the unique wines (many of which we had never tasted before) that WOM make including a Manseng and Grunner Veltliner.  Of course, we had to try their Pinot Gris too since Peter was the first to plan the grape variety in Orange region in 1998.

The wines are fantastic (we bought 3 x cases) and on top of their warm hospitality, they have fantastic artwork, pottery, food, and of course Artemis (whom they affectionately refer to as 'the big hairy mutt').  If you want to learn about Orange wineries, learn about the high-quality wines at WOM, learn about some of the 2000+ varieties of grapes, learn about winemaking, and most importantly understand the importance of intrigue and curiosity in anything that you do, then listen / watch this episode.
