Our series of audio documentaries ends its first season with a look at the first Norris Trophy win for the Hall of Fame defenseman. At just 22-years old, Denis Potvin made NHL history while enduring slumps, injuries, being benched, being booed by his own fans and pissing off a team of All Stars. Despite all of the obstacles - self-created or otherwise - Potvin’s supreme talent always shined through, and he went on to have one of the best individual seasons in Islanders history, even to this day.

Lighthouse Lookback catches up with "Kid Line" member Marty McInnis. The forward was drafted in the eight round of the 1988 NHL draft. After three seasons at Boston College, McInnis joined the U.S. Mens Olympic team for the 1992 Winter Olympics. McInnis led the team in scoring as the U.S. finished fourth in the tournament. Following the Olympics, McInnis joined the Islanders where he would play six seasons for. He was traded for Robert Reichel in 1997. The forward retired in 2003 after spending two seasons with his hometown Boston Bruins.

Lighthouse Lookback catches up with Keith Aucoin, who had his best season in the NHL with the Islanders in 2012-13. The undrafted forward was claimed off of waivers from Toronto by the Islanders prior to the start of the strike-shortened season.

Jiggs McDonald has been a NHL play-by-play announcer for more than 40 years, having been the original voice of both the Los Angeles Kings and Atlanta Flames before spending 15 seasons with the New York Islanders alongside Eddie Westfall, calling three Stanley Cup Winning teams. Having announced over 3,000 NHL regular season games, McDonald received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award from the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1990. Although 'retired" Jiggs continues to broadcast Islanders games each season filling in throughout the season for Howie Rose.
